Freezing at Disney World

I live an hour south west of Disney (between Disney and Tampa). It was 21 at my house this morning. Ouch!

Right now at WDW it is 31 feels like 22

predicted low tonight is 26.

Looks like the runners will be moving fast tomorrow.

...either that, or they'll freeze their bahookies off....:cold:

...YIKES! But a reaaly kewl pic, none-the-less....

This morning, local news interviewed orange growers. They said that they would lose about two thirds of their citrus crop. The trees will survive, but the fruit has been badly damaged. Blueberry and strawberry growers will also suffer extensive losses. Expect to see a rise in produce cost in the near future.

...what a shame...:guilty:

Those are some great pics.

Funny seeing people heading out to the parks in parkas!

Looks like the cold is supposed to finally break at the end of this week...

...well, that's good news - my DS and his GF will be visiting the 2nd week of Feb., and he's starting to get a little worried...:guilty:

That's what happened to me. I did the half on Saturday morning and got to stand in the sleet in the corral for about an hour before we started moving toward the start line. My hands were numb the entire race and sleet really stings when it hits your bare skin! I ran in a heavy sweatshirt and thought about adding a poncho but couldn't be bothered once we got going, so my sweatshirt weighed about 30 lbs by the time we were done.

The sleet eventually subsided and changed over to rain; it was really coming down by the time I finished. Adding to the fun was the fact that they weren't allowing any cars in to the parking lot to pick people up (not the one where the tents were; the one next to it where people, um, parked), so by the time I got done meandering around and found my ride, getting colder and colder by the second, I'd tacked on another 2 miles. :headache:

I took the hottest shower possible once back in the room and tried to keep moving (and drinking warm fluids) and was still vaguely cold about 5 hours after the race ended.

ETA: On an amusing note, I did see some interesting getups on other runners. One guy who was probably 6'5" or more sprinted past me in a heavy, velvety-looking robe, and a few minutes after I finished, the announcer said, "And we now have our second Snuggie to cross the finish line!" Lol.

The big story yesterday because of the cold is that the farmers used so much water to water their crops, that sinkholes are popping up all over, including one possible one on Insterstate 4, that has caused all but one lane to be closed eastbound.

It wasn't confirmed that this is the cause of the sinkholes, but they did confirm it drained the local aquifer by 60 feet.

I wish we could get Blueberries and strawberries from Florida, they ship these crappy strawberries from Argentina and we don't get decent strawberries till they are in season in the Midwest.

I feel for you guys, we got early frost and snow in the midwest, and all the corn in the fields, molded and the farmers were unable to get the corn out of the fields. Many things are made with corn, so prices will be going up with corn based products.

Looks like Florida is warming up this week, thank goodness for the farmers. Hope you don't get this mess again this Winter.
