I am considering...considering mind you....switching out my 4 night Dream in March. After all, I'll be back on the Dream in July of 17 for a CC double dip.
I know nothing of other cruise lines.
We will both be 53, don't gamble, barely drink. Kids are grown. Love watching the water and doing water activities. An adult pool area is a big, big plus. And a 'rainforest room' type area.
I found two options, both very close to the $2500 I am paying for 4 nights in a 5A on the Dream:
6 night Freedom of the seas--Cayman, Cozumel, Costa Maya. cruising out of Fort Lauderdale. $2000 for a balcony stateroom, $2700 for a junior suite.
7 night Celebrity Reflection--Cayman, Cozumel, Jamaica, Labadee. Cruising out of Miami. Veranda room on deck 9 $2398, concierge room $2798.
I have been two Cayman and Cozumel a long time ago, so there would be 1 or 2 new ports.
I know this is a RCCL board but just thought I'd ask what the preferences are.

Celebrity is a sister company of RCCL. I have been on the Freedom and loved it! The only Celebrity cruise I have been on is on the Solstice and my wife and I loved that as well. IMO, Celebrity is more adult oriented and a little more upscale. We found that the Solstice was a little quieter, with nightlife winding down a little earlier than on a RC ship.

I would go for Celeb for the extra day and port stop, Plus other comment from PP. Also, Celeb gives you Labedee (like a private island), which is a very nice beach day. You can get a clamshell cover over 2 beachchairs for a $10 tip--very nice. We just got back and really enjoyed our day there. The beach @ Costa Maya is not nearly as nice and not set up like Lab.

Of the 2 I've only been on FOS. I like Freedom class ships a lot but I think I would go with Reflection. It looks like a very nice ship, it has an extra day and I'm a big fan of Labadee.

Have been on freedom, haven't been on Celebrity at all, however I would def take the 7 day (I can't imagine doing less than 7 days) as we also loved Labadee

The Reflection is a gorgeous ship-I would choose that for sure. It has an amazing Solarium. The Reflection (and Celebrity in general IMO) have a much more refined feel to them. I'm usually on the younger end of the spectrum when I sail celebrity, but I prefer a lower paced cruise.

One thing to keep in mind if that the cabins on celebrity are a bit more snug that other lines. Also, you don't really get anything with the concierge room IIRC. The one time I did that, I felt it was a bit of a money grab. I'd much rather pay to get the extra space and amenities of a full-suite. (Or save the money entirely and get a balcony).
