Last time we were at the Fort, you had to rent a modem for wi-fi unless you wanted to go and sit on the porch at the camp store.

Has Disney decided to offer free wi-fi yet for the Fort campers? Some of us have to bring our work laptops along. :badpc:

Can't wait! Counting down the days!!!

As of Christmas the wifi situation was still the same. Part of 600 loop we were able to get a signal.

Don't get too excited ;) We were there the week and half after Thanksgiving, and it was definitely *hit & miss* mostly miss :( The signal was great, but guess there were too many people trying to log on, as it wouldn't do anything. We used our own through our phone. Late at night we could use it, but evenings and mornings were totally useless. They would have to be a lot better than that for you to count on using it for work ::yes::

As of Jan 10 still only the 3 hot spots. Near each store and near the Outpost.

Go put a deposit down on a modem kit at the front desk, bring your own wireless router from home. Plug in your router with the supplied ethernet cable and you have your own personal wifi at the site. The modem kit has a diagram how to hook this up if you are technically challenged. Your deposit is returned when you return the kit. There is no longer a daily charge to use the kit.

We used the wifi system from Dec 5th to the 27th. It worked perfectly for us. And best of all it was free (sort of).

Dave

Are the modem kits first come first serve or can they be reserved? I recall reserving one a few years back, but when I called today I was told that it is first come first served.

I had to be "on call" on a cruise once. That was weird! What am I able to do far off at sea (performing my job is hands on)?!?!

When we were at the Fort last October, the cable modems were on a first come basis. However there were none available when I checked in, none on the next day, none on the next day and then I gave up.

Same thing here and during October. I got lucky though. I went to the Fort Office at 930PM on Monday night after coming back from the park. I lucked out as the person in front of me was returning their modem. When I was called to the desk, I asked if I could get the modem and the lady was here you go. The handle was still warm! LOL I just set up a wireless router with password. My parent's trailer and my trailer had WiFi access for the rest of the trip. It made sending trip reports to all you easier and photos of the day to extended family as well.

I feel it is the luck of the draw. I just got lucky.

300 loop you needed a modem kit. However, me being the techie guy, we bring a standard wifi router with us all the time, so I just set it up in a friends camper as he was in the middle of our 3 sites and everyone shared the one modem. We had no problems with it either.
