Any one use a web site for losing weight. I have no $ or time for dedicated Weight Watchers fees and meetings. But, I would like to lose so extra weight for health reasons. I gained so much when menopause and thyroid went.

I eat lightly, skip meals, diet drinks, tea, water (dry mouth), I also make homemade soups, have roast chicken once a week,

Maybe it is about menu planning? I am so overwhelmed right now can't concentrate.

I have serious back problems, try to keep up with the walking but right now I am lucky to even walk....terrible pain. Following up with neuro and trigger points this month.

Is there a site that anyone uses and really saw results? :surfweb:

sparkpeople.com

Really great. Like DIS for dieters. Tons of forums, recipes, exercise videos, etc. Much better than WW in my opinion.

Thank you so much for the tip. I think I remember a reference to that site before from Dis.
Going to check it out...:yay:

I also recommend sparkpeople.com. It is a great website.

Come over the WISH thread. There is a spring Biggest Loser Challenge just starting up today. It is a great support system while you are trying to lose weight.

Skipping meals is never a good idea. I remember a gal on the Biggest Loser who went home, was still working out like crazy but NO weight loss. They increased her calories & that jump started things.

For me it is about exercise & all but eliminating carbs. I just saw an add in today's paper for Ideal Protein; did some research & it reconfirmed what I know--if I stick w/ lean proteins, lowfat dairy, veggies & a few fruits (and exercise...), those stubborn pounds will move.

My mom went on a low carb diet (less than 100g/day) to lower cholesterol--the weight melted off. She had a hard time w/ 100 grams...Atkins starts at 20g/day!

Personally I like this best as it minimizes tracking my food...I just allow myself the above things. BUT I am careful to always have nuts to snack on...if I go into a meal ravenous, I have a hard time making the right choices. If I have a small handful of nuts between meals, I can handle things better.

As far as exercise goes, I have to find something that is FUN (Jazzercise for me). AND I have to schedule it in my Franklin Planner every day. And I alert my family that I am unavailable that hour to pick them up, etc. (so this requires DH to be on board--bless him, he is)

Good luck--I, too have recommitted. Hit me yesterday that I want to be thin again MORE than I want to taste the yummy food. It doesn't mean I can't EVER have them again--just not for awhile. (all the food/treats from the holidays are actually making this easier--I am SICK of eating!) Plus we danced the night away last night--a great start!!!

See your doctor for a checkup and get some information regardng planning what to eat. Meal skipping and too few calories puts your system into starvation mode and makes it harder to lose weight.

I have been using myfitnesspal.com since July and I love it! I have lost 40 lbs so far. :cool1: I love how easy it is to track food and exercise, and I also really like their discussion boards. Good luck!!

On the plateau make sure you are getting enough calories...

SOmetimes exercise plus not eating enough puts you into starvation mode and you will not loose weight...

Just one thing to check...

I am a registered, licensed dietitian who had gained weight over the last years from too much snacking and not watching portion sizes. I have been using the "Lose It!" app on my phone since Thanksgiving with great results! It is easy and free. While not perfect, it gives instant calorie counts that helps keep portion sizes in check. Exercise is necessary to stay healthy, but this food log app has been very effective for me. Good luck! :cool1:

Ditto for My Fitness Pal! I have only been using it since January 7th, but I have already lost 11 pounds. It really holds you accountable for everything you eat. I highly recommend it!

We use loseit.com. It is free and very easy to use. You can also look up foods from restaurants.

I use the same thing and it really helps. I like that I always have it with me and can add to it rather then having to remember for when I sit down at my computer.

thanks to the posters who recommended "myfitnesspal" - my online subscription to WW was expiring and I wasn't going to the spend the $$ to continue. I really like myfitnesspal better than WW and it's free!:thumbsup2 THANKS!!

I'm another myfitnesspal. I've been on since Jan. Lost 11 pounds. I just love tracking what I eat and when I exercise. It's like a facebook for weight loss. Made some nice friends too for support. Good luck with your loss
