Free webkinz****

We went to a store today, it was a little "crazy", with pushy people. They had three games set up, but you could only play 1 game per purchase. From what I saw you only got the free Webkinz if you bought a Webkinz. When I called the store last night they did not seem at all thrilled to be having anything Webkinz. The guy said he thought they would get rid of the all of the free ones last night so they wouldn't have to deal with it today. You did not get to choose you free one, it was in a sealed paper bag and handed to you when you made your purchase.

I was a little disappointed after reading here about all the fun everyone was having. But my DD is happy and that is what matters to me.:cutie:

Thats a shame. The store we went to was wonderful and let you pick your free one. I split my purchases into 3 to get one for each child, each spun the wheel of wow and won a book mark and trading cards. My DD won 3rd place in a coloring contest and received a free bookmark. I think all the kids were happy with what they received.

I have to chime in because this free webkinz deal worked out so well for us. DD will be turning 8 tomorrow, and we had a webkinz themed bday party on Saturday. DH and I were planning to get her two webkinz as gift, and when I went to Hallmark I found ours was doing the spend $10, get a webkinz free all week!

So we purchased 2, got 2 free. I then bought 15 bookmarks for the goody bags, so 3 more free!! So I spent $60, and came away with 7 webkinz and 15 bookmarks. Total bargain for me, and DD was sooo excited when she opened her present. :yay:

Thank you so much to the OP. My dd (5.5 yrs.) came home sobbing from a playdate because she was the only one that didn't have a webkinz. I was somewhat upset that the hosting mom allowed everyone else to play while dd was forced to watch. Anyway, I just happened to see the first post and dd was so excited to get her very first webkinz!!! Thanks again!

Oh that is MEAN! The host mom should have at the least made her DD let yours play on her account!

At any rate, I did make it into our Hallmark and got a free Webkinz--buy my cards there anyway so it worked out! My kids did the stuff there--pick a coupon out of a box--kind of Wheel of Wow without the wheel--and guessed the Jelly beans in a jar. There had been another store listed on the webkinz website not too far that sounded more fun but was a let down. They had the gem hunt but the best prizes they had were bookmarks and some kid we saw had something else but I don't remember anything about it other than DS saying "Well at least we didn't get that." On their Wheel of Wow, there were some decent things but they had spaces where you didn't win anything! That seemed pretty crappy to me. Also, if you spent $10 the store workers picked out of a box and you got what you got for hte free one. What if you already had it??

I couldn't help but notice that American Girl prices were way down on ebay this weekend. Quite a few ebay bargains to be had as I'm guesssing everybody was busy at webkinz weekend activities.
DD7 has spent her allowances for the next 4 weeks but by the time we got done visiting different stores nearby on Friday and Saturday to see what they were doing, she has enough new webkinz to spread out and register two or three every week until her allowance returns.

Our pharmacy only participated for 3-4 hours on Saturday afternoon but they were great and had hired teens to come in for facepainting and stuff. They also had helium balloons, craft projects, real sand to dig thru in the jem hunt chest, and probably the oddest jelly bean challenge I have ever seen - a large jar filled with empty medicine capsules!

Now the webkinz site is telling kids not to miss webkinz day on the 29th if i remember correctly. When I tried to click on it for more information it wasn't clickable. Anybody know what they've planned for online by chance?
