I have read this a few times. Is it true that we can just go up to any CS and ask for a cup of ice water at no charge? If so, can you get only one or 2-3 (we have 5 in our family) at a time?
It seems too easy and why are people buying cases of water to be delivered to their rooms if you can get free water all day?

yes, you can get free ice water anywhere on property - Florida law. I think people buy bottled water cause the tap water is kinda sulfurish. But who cares when you are sweating out 20 gallons a day!!

I even got water only at one of the CS places, no food. I was about to pass out I was so hot (It was at columbia Harbor house) and they didn't bat an eyelash.

Yes, that is correct. However, have you ever tasted their water? :scared:

The water in the MK must come directly from Seven Seas Lagoon. Either that or puddle, could be either.

I drink only bottle watered there, can't even drink the beverages at CP. They use the same water in the sodas. I bring in a bottle of water with me.

I tend to drink mostly bottled water or Brita filtered water though, so for me it is just not doable. :sad2:

The tap water in Orlando just plain tastes bad. Yes, it's free and you can drink all you want. But even the locals prefer bottled water.

Ok... i knew there had to be a reason why everyone is going to great lenghts to buy water!!
Does it help any if you put those packets of drink mix into it? I have a ton of those!!

I always buy bottle water during our trips. Once I tried just filling my bottle and drinking the tap water. It made me so sick. I guess my body just couldn't adjust to the Florida water.

The fountain coke beverages still taste like pond water, just flavered ;) Some people can do it without problems. Worth a shot if you are looking to save a few $$

The water at counter services at Epcot,MGM and AK are fine. It's the MK that had the bad tasting water.

I have to agree with Mickaholic (Hi, Alma! :hippie: ) that the water at MK seems to taste the worst. But regardless, you can get an ice water for everyone in your party for FREE. If you want, bring the individual Crystal Light or 4C water packets with you to help with the taste!

It's better than the tap water here at home. We have to Brita everything here, we can drink the Orlando tap water just fine. It depends upon what you are used to.

I really don't mind the water at Disney. I bring bottles and refill them when needed with water from the tap. My reasons for bottled water are 1) it's so much easier to hang the water bottle from a strap but I can't do that with a cup of water. 2) It's not fun waiting in line just for a cup of water. I would rather have it with me and take a drink when I'm thirsty rather than waste park time in line. Whatever you prefer do it your way.

Too Funny :rotfl2:

This year we are doing the parks with no, yes you heard me right, NO BAGS.

I agree the water is a little off. I hate the smell while I'm showering. And it makes my hair straw.

We are going to try bringing kood-aid and crystal lights to gos this time. Hopefully they will drowned out the water flavor.

We live in the Orlando area, and the water, as others have pointed out, tastes no good. At our home, we have to have a filter to alter the water's taste, and when eating out, we always order bottled water, not tap. Yech...

It's bad at all the parks, and it's bad in the hotels. When we're staying on property, we keep a bottle of water in our room, because sometimes I wake up thirsty in the night, and I won't drink the tap water for love or money.

Cheers!

Bottled water is more convenient (can carry it by strap, can close the bottle to save what you didn't drink yet, etc) and some people don't like the taste of the tap water.

I personally would never go to a CS location solely for cups of ice/water. If I was ordering food, THEN I order a cup of ice water as my beverage, as I don't drink soda. However, asking for the ice water when you're not buying anything seems really tacky to me. There are water fountains everywhere - just get your drink from them. Also, keep in mind most CS have lines most of the day....getting in line to order something for free is going to slow down the guests behind you, and it's much faster for you to just drink from the fountain if you're not carrying your own bottled water.

I have also gotten just a cup of ice from CS. Then I can pour my bottled water into it or even the bottled coke into it later in the day.

Also, you can bring those "cold brew" iced tea bags to liven up the water.

Happy Planning!! :goodvibes

This is an interesting thread.

1. Until the last couple of years, the bottled water at Walt Disney World was Zepherhills. Guess where it is bottled? Just outside of Orlando, using local springs and wells.

2. Disney transitioned to Dasani, owned by Coke. Where does Dasani get their water? From municipal water supplies. They MAY do a little more filtering but that is about it.

3. If you go to a counter service restaurant and ask for a cup of ice water (and do not specifically ask for bottled water) then you will be receiving water from the tap with ice made from water from a tap. If you ask for bottled water you will be charged for it.
