We are contemplating buying into "The Club". I just found this at www.disneyvacationclub.com - the office isn't open yet and I was wondering if anyone knows what the catch is on this one?

Sounds too good to be true to me. I'm guessing that you need to buy a certain number of points to get this, not just the minimum?

If anybody knows, clue me in please!

You can get the deal with just a minimum purchase, but the promotion does impact your final purchase price:

$95 per point with the "free vacation" promotion.
$85 per point without the promotion.

Actually, it's probably misleading to imply that you are paying for the "free vacation." The $95 per point option is the current going rate for points. Acknowledging that some new members may not be able to travel soon enough to take advantage of the free points (they must be used by 9/30/05, cannot be banked) they are offering the alternative $10 per point discount.

We just bought into DVC last Thursday b/c we liked the idea so much..... we were told we could either have the 'free vacation' or $1500 towards out downpayment..... we chose the $1500!!

It sure does look like a great deal for 50 yrs worth of vacation!! Now to decide when and where our first vacation will be!!lol Dh was bugging me b/c we just returned home on Friday and I was already starting to think about the 'next' vacation!!lol
