free tickets to Kennedy Space Center

This is a copy of the email I sent my congresswoman (in NY) after being told the tix were only offered for space launches. After this correspondence, I was contacted by her aide & he is currently working on getting the tix. Haven't heard back in a couple months, so I'm keeping the faith that they'll still be available:

I'm interested in obtaining complimentary tickets for my family of 4 to the Kennedy Space Center and Museum in Florida. It has come to my attention that as my Congresswoman, you are able to obtain such tickets for your constituents from Lisa Gibson Legislative Affairs Specialist NASA Headquarters Office of Legislative & Intergovernmental Affairs 202-358-1067 (office) 202-358-4343 (fax) I was unable to locate this particular tour on your website. Thank you for your service and your assistance. Sincerely, XXXXXXX

Good luck to you.

Thanks a lot for the inf. I will try that. Good luck to you too.

I emailed my congressman on Friday and received this today:

Good afternoon, Jennifer:

Unfortunately, the Kennedy Space Center no longer has complimentary passes available through June 2012. Tickets may be purchased online at http://www.kennedyspacecenter.com/buy-tickets-admission-hours.aspx or in person at the Space Center Visitor Complex.

I apologize for this inconvenience.

Best,
Danielle

Just heard from my senators office and we got tickets for our late September trip! :cool1: he did say that all of the tickets were gone for the summer months, but there were a few left for september. So if it matches your travel dates, ask now!

I just received an email from our congresswomen in Wyoming and they are going to get our information submitted for tickets! :thumbsup2 Yay! Thanks for posting all the information about this so our family can enjoy this extra outing in December.

I called the local office today and made a request

dh really wants to go so this would be a great way to trim our budget :thumbsup2

I was just told by my Congressman's assistant that they were no longer going to hand out complimentary tickets after Aug 2012. Of course we are going in October.:sad1: He provided me with the link to purchase full price tickets. It was worth a try.

I just submitted my request today....wish me luck! :) TY for the form letter BTW it was so helpful!!

Try another representative (Senator?)

Got a call today from our congressman's office telling us we got our tickets for our trip - we are going October 27th and we got them today.

:banana::banana:

We were also notified today that our request was granted and that we'd be receiving our tix about a month before our trip (we're going in June).
I was a little worried because of the posts about no more tix being left. Maybe it's a State by State thing?

They are definitely still doing it. We are going in December. Our congresswomen's assistant heard back from the NASA people that give the tickets and they said they take requests 6 months in advance so to resubmit our request in June. So definitely still being done. Hope you can work something out!!

Ok, this may be a dumb question, but are you to contact your state or U.S. representative? (And from house or senate?) Because we changed our dates for our trip we are only 4 1/2 months out so I hope we aren't too late and there are still some tickets available. My hubby turns 40 on our trip and he REALLY wants to go so we will be going and taking the kids (4 and 23 months) so not having to pay $125 to get in would be a big help!!!!!

I have not done this but if you go federal it should not matter if it is either of your two state senators or your representative.

I contacted my Congresswoman, Kathy Hochul from New York State.
She is my US Representative in Congress.
HTH

You have to be within a six month window of your trip, I sail May 2013 and was told its available but I need to call back in November to get the tickets.

To clarify;
It is your US Representative (Congressman) or US Senator (either one) from your state.

Thanks for the info. I just requested tickets for October from US Congressman MA John Tierney's office. Will report if I have any luck!
