I do not know if this allowed on here, but we have brought a Disney theme park ticket that we can no longer use, as our children are above 9 years, the pass is a hopper pass with 1 theme park and 1 water park still left on them (I think).

If anyone wants it, PM me as we are AKL on Monday through to Wednesday and we can leave it at the desk for you.

If this is not allowed, please delete the thread and apologies.

I don't know, how can I find out??

Go to the concierge desk at your resort (AKL?) and you should be able to upgrade it as long as it doesn't say complimentary.

ETA ~ If it is a non-expiration ticket, you can upgrade it for free at any of the four theme park's guest services. As long as it was originally his ticket it will not be a problem.

Disney does not penalize a child for growing older. If you have a child ticket that was originally used by a child, the same child can use it even after he/she turns ten. If it is a non-expiring ticket, Disney can upgrade it to an adult pass with the same entitlements left on it. If it expires within 14 days of first use and you are still within that 14 day period, you can upgrade it to non-expiring, but it might not be worth the cost. Some tickets, like YES tickets and complimentary tickets, cannot be upgraded. I know there are some tickets that are UK-specific - those might have different upgrade rules if you have one of those.

If you have a brand new, never used one day ticket (which it doesn't sound like you have, but just in case), you can upgrade it to an adult ticket by paying the difference.

A partially used ticket is never transferrable to another person, even for free. :goodvibes

As mentioned previously, we will try to upgrade.

Why can it not be transferred for free? The other option is to leave it pinned to a billboard on the entrance to Disney, I am sure someone will try it. This ticket was purchased with never expiring on it and BEFORE the finger print thing.

If you read the back of the ticket, it says that they are not transferrable. That doesn't mean someone wouldn't try and may or may not be able to gain admission to the park. I'm not suggesting you'll be arrested if you give it away or pin it to a billboard - do whatever you want. But it is against Disney's rules for a ticket to be used by more than one person.

You can give away (or sell) UNUSED tickets.

You asked in your first post if it is allowed here or not - it is against the DIS rules to try to circumvent Disney's rules, and it is against Disney's rules to share tickets. So I answered the question you asked. Do whatever you want.

If it was before the no expiration thing, you can still use it for the child on the next trip. You just take it to guest services and they will upgrade it to an adult ticket.

You will be able to still use it! Disney will let the child use it.. I was able to go to guest services and use a ticket that I had as a child... it stays with your child... go to guest services!

As I put in the first sentence to your reply - I WILL try an upgrade.

Thank you for the input.

Don't mean to hi-jack the thread, but I also have a ticket question. Years ago I bought several 6 day Park Hopper Plus tickets that never expire. This was before the finger scan tickets took effect. I have one 6-day child pass remaining. It has never been used. I am thinking of taking my 6 yr. old nephew to WDW in Jan. or Feb. Can he use that ticket or do I have to exchange it for the current MYW ticket?

We have (3) 6 day park hoppers that still have one day left. The CM put on an expiration date as the 20th. Any way to upgrade these?

You'll have to take it to Guest Services before you use it, and they'll exchange it for a comparable ticket. You were smart to buy them when you did!

I was just answering your question about why it can't be transferred for free (quoted below for clarity). :confused3

As a PP said, even before the finger scans, used tickets could not be transferred to another person. Children's tickets were never subject to finger scans anyway and still aren't, so the use of biometrics is not the determining factor in transferrability.

If you have trouble with your upgrade, which you might if you try to upgrade at your resort, go to Guest Services at the parks. They will know what to do.

Are they Magic Your Way Tickets? Do you mean the expiration is August 20th (like you have just recently started using them)? If you are within fourteen days of first use and they still have at least a day left, you can upgrade them at Guest Services. But you probably don't want to add no-expiration in this case, unless you are adding days. The cost to upgrade a 6-day ticket to non-expiration is $165 plus tax per ticket. It is not worth it if you only have one day left (which has a value of about $95).

If you wanted to upgrade the 6 day hoppers to 10-day non-expiring tickets, it would cost about $40 to go from 6 days to 10 days, plus $293 per ticket to add no expiration. Total cost per ticket would be about $333 and you would be left with five day hoppers. Cost for a new five day hopper is about $345 (gate price).

It can make sense to add no-expiration if you plan to get several trips out of one ten day ticket, or if you add water parks and plan to use them over several trips. It can save money especially if you take shorter trips since Disney front-loads the ticket costs - you would get more value from two 3-day trips and a four-day trip, for example, than two five-day trips. Some people buy ten day non-expiring park hoppers with water parks and use them over two or three trips. You would get ten water park entries and could use them over ten trips if you didn't misplace the tickets.
