free things to do at disneyworld

Easiest if you have a car. Go to the Team Disney Building which is across Buena Vista Drive from Planet Hollywood. It is an office building, so you will have to show a driver's license and sign in. Tell the person at Security that you want to see the Sundial.

You can go inside the world's largest actual (and accurate) sundial. Obviously this should not be done on a cloudy and overcast day.

Oh, wow! I have never heard of this! Do you know if it's open on Saturday mornings? I'd like to go see that on our way to our resort to check in, or after we check out. (Both days are Saturdays.)

CF, I hope you're working at TL the day we plan to go - would love to say hi and thank you for the excellent information you give out!

Thanks Cheshire Figment,
The sundial is a great idea, i bet 99% of visitors never even heard of it. I never did. Do we need to make a reservation? How much does it cost? do you know the address? You said its across the street from Planet Hollywood. We won't have a car but will be staying at POFQ so we can take the boat to DTD. Is it possible to walk there? Any other info on the sundial, and or pictures would be greatly appreciated. Do you have any other different, unique, and/or free activities.
thanks h2odivers

For more information, here is a link to a technical article and some photos. It is directly across the street from Planet Hollywood,, probably a five or six minute walk.

There is no charge to visit.

Since it is an office building, to the best of my knowledge it is only available weekdays (no holidays) during normal business hours.

thanks tigger51276,
do you know if this is an activity that a young boy and a young girl would like? Do i need to make reservations? Is it free or what does it cost? Do you have any other great suggestions?
Thanks h2odivers
Oh yes, boys, girls and adults alike can participate in all the bead activites. Plus 2 years past when I stayed there down by the pool area they had a free spin art project going on that my DD's loved. They also have some activities that cost that aren't part of the bead activity, like jewelry making, ceramics and other stuff. I know over at AKL Kidani Village they have a bunch of activites that happen also, but all the bead activites are at Jambo House. If you happen to be at the resort after dark, you can go behind the pool area to one of the lookout areas to the savannah and they have a cast member there with night vision goggles and you can look through them to see the animals in the dark. It was pretty cool to do.
When you get to Disney you can check and see if AKL can send you a schedule of activites for the week to your room and then you will know what is taking place when and what time as different days have different activites.
