Does the beverage station have soda (carbonated) water? Or will I have to pay at the bar?

The soda stations have a small lever on one of the drinks that will dispense carbonated water. Another drink lever will dispense water too.

And you can ask for it at the MDRs as well.

While I'm aware of the "water" spigot, I've never seen a "small lever" that dispenses carbonated water. Where is it?

And the Fantasy:

The Magic (in Cabanas)

And the Wonder (poolside)

Soda water is free in the MDRs, but I never found it at the drink stations. I would love it if they had it there though.

On the Wonder in December 2013, there was most definitely a soda water lever on one of the sprite fountains at the pool drink station. I know for sure because I probably drank half a gallon of it a day. I don't recall if there was one in the buffet.

I was disappointed that there was no soda water dispenser at the poolside drink station on the dream in January 2015. On the dream, a friendly bar tender by the adult pool enabled my soda water habit for free... I did tip him though.

I’m back on the wonder this fall, hope the soda water is there!

This is exactly my experience as well.

I have followed the soda water, club soda, sparkling water discussions here on the cruise boards a lot over the recent years and one piece of information I have taken away from it is that sometimes servers in the dining room seem to get confused. I think it might be a language thing. There is club soda available in cans on the ship. As everything in a can you have to pay for it. So, some people are told that club soda is an extra charge, most likely because the server thinks club soda is the thing in the can and knows the carbonated water from the drink dispenser under one of the other possible names for the same thing. Also, my assistant server on the Magic started having a large caraffe of carbonated water at the drink station to refill my and my sister's glass from this. This worked perfect for us. She asked us if we were ok with this, she would have brought a fresh glass every time if we had preferred this. She explained something about that getting the carbonated water from the machine was a bit difficult, it sounded like they actually have to turn off the sirup or something like this, and another assistant server has told her the tip about the caraffe. I had seen those caraffes on my previous cruise on the Fantasy as well.

I just wish they would make carbonated water available at all the drink stations!! I put this on the survey every time!

Unfortunately, I suspect the demand for that is low. It seems to me that, generally, Americans don't drink a lot of soda / sparkling water. When we were there in April I really struggled to find it at places like 7-11, and never saw it in a vending machine. I found a couple of options at the supermarket. Whereas, in Australia, and whenever I've been to Europe, it's much more readily available without having to search, including in vending machines.

Yes, I think that's true. Which makes me think that the Magic at least should have it since she spends the summer in Europe and has all the European cruisers who love their sparkling water (like me!!)! :thumbsup2

We were on the Wonder in 2011 & 2012. This picture is from 2011, and I don't see any "extra button" for soda water:

By 2012, they had changed the spigots (removing the lever that the cup actually had to push against), but still no button for soda water:

We did a kitchen tour on the Wonder exactly one year ago and they had a "soda" spout much like the water ones shown above. There were no levers on any of the machines. I hunted them down...nope.

This is always a survey comment for us as well! Hopefully one day it will catch on and Disney will make it happen *smile*

I have switched to flavored or plain unsweetened soda water in my plight to eliminate unnecessary sugar from my diet...so would love it if they had a "club soda" option.

I thought on the wonder and other places with multiple machines one is water the other machine is soda

I don't believe so. Hard to see in this photo (on the Wonder), but all the fountains are pretty much set up the same:
Coke/Diet Coke/Sprite/HI-C/water/tea/Sprite Zero/Coke. Only variation was a couple of them had two Hi C flavors (one replacing the tea option)

There definitely WAS a soda water button on the wonder in fall of 2013 when we did our panama canal cruise. Was not one on the dream in 2014. Will be on the magic in 12 days and fingers crossed :P

I am bringing on cans of soda water though to keep in the room. I always have one before bed every night and like my habit :)
