Free room question

For a wishes wedding, does your free room ever get upgraded? I know they say you can pay the difference to get a better view or a suite, but that is another expense that we don't need. Should we just chance it and hope the check in person 'helps' us out?

We will be paying the upgrade fee because we wanted a MK view for the 4th of July.

Make sure to think about when you plan on going, if it's a peak time chances of an upgrade go WAY down.

I NEEDED THE GF honeymoon room and had to pay upgrade bc of it. i just paid it so i didn't have to ask anyone if i could or not. but it was a need so i did it and I'm psyched about it!!!!!!!

Same with our room. We WANTED the view because I don't do crowds and we can watch fireworks from there.

OH and i don't think the check-in desks EVER know if you are wishes/escape or whatever or would know what the names meant for $ or things bc only DFTW uses that terminology.

I have read about several upgrades at CM's discretion but like meb said, depends on capacity at which resort.... Care to share more info and maybe we can help you guess odds?

We reserved our free room for the lowest grade at the Grand Floridian and didn't want to pay extra for any upgrades.

When we checked in they had upgraded us to a room with a balcony looking right at the castle on a concierge level floor. So we were super stoked.

This was in January so the season is slower. But I think they try to upgrade you if they can knowing you spent a ton of money on a wedding that day.

We have a few things going against us.
It's Presidents Day weekend and we are staying at the Boardwalk (not that many rooms to begin with)
I don't want to spend the extra money because we'll only be there between midnight and 8:00 in the morning. We leave for our honeymoon early the next day.
There are a few more compications too: we want two rooms together for the bridesmaides to get ready in for Fri and Sat. we were going to take one of those on Sat night as the free room for us. We can't switch rooms because check in time is too late. So if I pay for an upgrade it's going to be 4 total nights of expenses or find someone to check us in to a different room.
