Free Room or Free DDP?

I am torn right now as to what to actually do. Background: I won a 7 night stay at ASMovies from LMT for June 30-July7th, didnt expect to win it, so wasnt checking the "right" days for us. We have never been in the summer, only in the first week of December previously.

Where I am torn is: price wise, the July trip is cheaper BUT it is over the 4th when I heard crowds are horrendous. We have never been able to do the DDP and I think free would be great and the crowds would be less in Sept! I cannot change the dates on the free room at all. If we were to go for free dining, I also would have to buy a park ticket for my youngest as she turns 3 the end of July.

Opinions needed: would you do the free room trip in July and just plan plan plan around the crowds, or pay the extra for free dining in Sept?

I'd do both. :rotfl: Seriously, if I could swing it, I would.

Is the free room transferable or negotiable at all?

If not - and if you are heat and crowd sensitive - I think you'd have a much better time in September.

I am in the same boat. We have Oct. bounceback free dining booked for 10 nights. We won LMT free room 12/26-1/2. The savings for free dining for us is $160 per day. We had thought we would pull off both trips but with the economy ( DH is in auto industry). It is a hard decision.

I am like you though I would think Sept. trip would be better with crowds. You would also have opportunity to go to MNSSHP, my favorite :thumbsup2

Let us all know, might help me with my decision.

Please forgive me if this is a totally obvious answer - but what the heck is "LTM"?

there was a promo a few months back with last minute travel website
if you logged on during a certian "windo" you could get a hotel stay up to 7nights for free

i was one of the ones who one a room we had october for Cornado
then when i relaized that free dining would be a better deal i canceled the LMT deal with CSR and will rebook on monday when the FD is offered to the general public...

LMT = Last Minute Travel
A few months back they had a promotion offering hotel rooms at certain times of the day for $1 and some DISers were lucky enough to get on site rooms.

I am about to cancel our LMT trip as well. I won Coronado Springs for November, but now my husband can go in October, which we love. So, I rented DVC points for $600, and our taxes on the free trip would have been around $200. So, I am looking at is as for $400 we can stay at the AKV where my kids really love anyway. My husband keeps saying "this free trip keeps getting more and more expensive" lol.

So, I guess I am saying, I decided if I am going to go all the way to Disney World with a 2 and 3 year old, and for only a little more money, I am going to stay where I like to. Don't forget to count the taxes that your free trip might cost you..that is how I justified it to DH!

Not transferable at all, I have tried and tried! Heat not so much, but the crowds, I dunno, it has never been busy when we went!

My DH is in the RV industry, we have been all over the news as our town is wasting away to nothing, even Obama came and saw us lol
I had not thought of MNSSHP, that would be a clincher!

That is part of it also...I am not really enthusiastic over Movies...and the taxes make us only really saving $600 overall...

It is looking like pulling the older DD out of Kindergarten and going in Sept!

Congratulations on the free trip:thumbsup2 Just remember, if the parks get crazy on the fourth, just go back to your resort and enjoy the pool and the grounds. You can always go to the parks in the evening when the crowds thin out.
