I understand there is a "get into a park free on your birthday" promo in 2009, I also believe that you can opt to take a gift card instead, but how does that work, do you have to go to a park on your actual birthday, and show id, and tell them you want gc instead, even if you're not planning on going to a park that day? My little one will turn 4 the day before we leave, and would like to get him the gc, but I don't think we'll be going to a park that day??

Yes, you must go to a park on your actual birthday. You must show proof of your birthday. You may elect to take a 1 day base ticket, a Birthday Fun card worth the value of a 1 day base ticket that is only good on your actual birthday (not valid the next day, next week or next trip) or a Special Birthday Fastpass (good for up to 6 people including bday person).

Here's a link to Disney's FAQ's about this promo.

HTH! :wizard:

Sorry,so you must go to a park, like guest services outside, or you must actually enter? Laso, is the gift card anywhere on Disney property (like DTD, or resorts), or must it be used at a park?

The FAQ states that you go to the Will Call window that is located at each of the parks. It would need to be outside a park if you were trying to obtain a ticket to enter for that day.

The FAQ states that the Birthday Fun card is "for you to use on your birthday for merchandise, recreation or fun activities at select participating locations at Walt Disney World® Resort".

Thanks for the 400th post! :wizard:

we are planning on the gift card for our DD, who will turn 10 when we go in January. I think you can spend the gift card anywhere, but for merchandise or toward recreation only (not food or meals) and it has to be used that day. You need to have birth certificate or certified copy of it for kids and it has to be their actual birthday.

When are you going in Jan.? Could you let us know how this works? We are planning to get the card when we go in Sept. It will be my Husband's birthday when we go.:)

Do you think a passport would be suffice, we are coming from Canada , so we need one anyhow.

Yes, a passport is valid as well.
