Yes, really. I do understand it is free, but it is now costing me two round trips to our nearest KFC which is about 45 minutes away (in no traffic of course) and this is of course only IF they do turn in the coupon and I do get my raincheck. My *free* meal is no longer free.
KFC and it's franchisee's will be thanking you and all the other people who take this position. I'm betting that you rarely go to KFC anyway, since it's a 45 minute drive, with no traffic. Hard to believe that you would be willing to drive 1.5 hours, round trip, for about $25 worth of KFC.
For every person who doesn't turn in their coupon for a raincheck, KFC figures it saved money.
It wasn't a well thought out promotion just like quizno's. I do understand atleast KFC is trying to fix it but it just isn't working for me.
I agree, very poorly thought out, and rife with opportunity for fraud. Somone definitely screwed up. I give KFC props for trying to make it right when they realized what a monster they created.
However, blame for the fiasco needs to be shared by those looking to take advantage. We even had someone on this very thread willing to send others a coupon. That is "working" the program and helped to make the problem worse than it should have been.
This is me personally! I am not going to hold it against anyone who wants to eat there! I am just NOT going to drive that far 2x hoping for 1 free meal.
Kind of what I said in the beginning...hard to believe you would be willing to drive that far to begin with...for such a small reward, but to each their own.
I think anyone who offers up a promotion on Oprah better be ready for something big! Of course it doesn't help that these coupons are posted all over the internet and being sold. I won't hold that part against KFC either but clearly the way it was handled to begin with did not sit well with me.
I'm betting it was some man, who just doesn't "get Oprah."

Poor guy.

I really think the internet issue is bigger than any one of us could imagine in creating this monster. Oprah and the internet....what a powerful combination!!!!
I'll just make my own grilled chicken. This is America and thankfully we all can disagree! It would be a pretty boring world if we all agreed! I am thankful to be an American!
Good plan. You'd be saving money, even if the program were carried out in it's original form, since the nearest KFC is so far away from where you live. Additionally, I'll bet your grilled chicken, and the sides you serve with it, are much healthier than what you would get at KFC.
Isn't it great that we can all disagree? Yep, being an American citizen, living in America, is awesome, even with the economy in the tank! I wouldn't trade it for anything.
