Free Fall Dining?

I heard that unless you are staying at a deluxe hotel, that the quick service dining plan will only be offered. I hope that's not the case :eeyore:

Interesting (and bad news)! Do you have a source, or just a rumor?

Does the fall dining promo make the parks more crowded? If I wanted to avoid crowds, would it be better to go, say, mid to late October/first week of december?

I know it's not set in stone. However, from a historical point, does the Poly get the free dining offer? Certain room types at the Poly?

This from another site I found as it appears Disney had it on their site for a short time and taken down. Also closely matches up with another gentleman (Mr. Black) who we miss on these boards who often gets the dates correctly.

Free Disney Dining Plan is rumored to be offered at Walt Disney World for booking in late Spring 2016 with specific dates (see below) having leaked for August through December. With this special offer, guests booking vacation packages with non-discounted resort hotels and park tickets receive the Disney Dining Plan for each member of their party for no additional charge. For obvious reasons (who doesn’t love free food?!), the promotion is incredibly popular and some resorts that offer free dining tend to sell out quickly.

Exact dates currently are not known, but Disney briefly posted dates for the promotion on its site, before quickly removing the listed promotion dates:

  • August 23 through October 1, 2016
  • November 11 through 21, 2016
  • November 26 through 28, 2016
  • December 10 through 21, 2016
Will these leaked dates are entirely unconfirmed (we haven’t heard a peep from usual sources on this), they are very plausible given past years and normal blockouts that occur around busier times. These dates are really similar to last year’s, which gives them some credence (although dates so close to Thanksgiving is interesting).

Oh wow that is really crazy that none of October (except the 1st) is included, if this is true!

This would not surprise me. They don't need to fill the moderates. The moderates are largely filled already for many dates in September (though they may be filled by people who will cancel reservations if free dining is not offered). The moderates were always the best deal for free dining, so it makes sense that the regular dining plan for moderates is what they cut first.

I would be surprised if moderates don't get the regular ddp. We booked a bounceback in August for CBR and it has the regular ddp. I wonder when we are there in August if they will still let you reserve a bounceback with the regular ddp, if they by chance change it. Probably not. Remember, there are always rumors on changes. Who knows, maybe Disney puts them out, so when they offer people the regular ddp they will think they got a great bargain.

I'm surprised to not see October included.. we want to go over Halloween. I hope they put out a discount. However, getting room reservations for that week has a few resorts already booked up!

Like RTEETZ said, this is not something Disney WILL do for sure. But for historical purposes, here are the offers from the last two years of free dining discount for fall, and when they were announced - offers did not include all resorts and there was limited availability and last year, your package had to include Park Hopper passes I think (please correct me if I'm not right):

for dates: 8/28/15-12/21/15 - discounted package (“Free Dining”) for general public (blacked out 10/3/15-10/24/15, 11/1/15-11/7/15 and 11/20/15-12/14/15) - announced on 4/27/15, expired 7/10/15

for dates: 8/31/14-12/23/14 - discounted package deal (Free Dining) for general public (blacked out 10/4-10/25, 11/2-11/8, and 11/21-12/11) - announced on 5/7/14, expired 8/8/14

(This is from the mousesavers website)
just by looking at the dates for 2015,, i am going 12/9 - 12/15,, what happens if date for free dining doesn't start till like the 12/10 ? Just giving a sample ?

If they will only give the one sit down for deluxe...the near standard 30% off could offset the "savings" of this promo...

And if they only give the quickie to moderate...the near standard 20-25% off could offset the "savings" of the promo...

See how this works?

They should call it what it is "full price magic"

Can we please...after a brutal 8 year of war...put free dining watch to bed?

I agree about the "free" dining.

Here's what I posted in another thread earlier-

For me.. The room only saved $1180. Even after paying for the DDP myself.

This year our room is less expensive at CR, and we'll only be there 4 nights.
But I did the math and still would come out ahead-
Room discount- $672
Free dining would equal savings of $346

Savings of taking RO and purchasing DDP-
$326

I'm watching the free dining dates bc they seem to historically coincide with the Room Only discount. Which is what I'm hoping for!

I don't see why they would only include Free Dining DDP for deluxe..unless you have 3-4 adults in a room it seems that the % off is the better choice.and would be the same if qs was offered for moderates.
