Free eBook on Disney Photography

Thanks for the tips, as a newbie to photography I'm sucking up information. I also picked up your basic photography ebook.

Many thanks for supporting the independent businessman (me)!

William: I really appreciate your ebook. One of my favorite parts is your subtle point that it is the photographer that makes the great image not the camera. You show great photos from many different formats. You give great tips on how make those pictures by looking at familiar things differently. Like Treys; trip to the MK he saw something he liked and was not afraid to ask for help to make it better.

You do good work! Keep it up!!!

I was hoping that point would come across. You can make some fantastic shots even with a mobile phone camera just by putting a bit more thought into the composition. In fact, I'd rather use my iPhone for a lot of detail shots. It's quick, easy and perfectly suited for some of those photos.

Thanks for the book. I am heading to the world in Aug and can't wait to try your suggestions.

I am also looking for a new camera. I really love a point and shoot and don't want to go to the expense to an SLR. I really need one to take pictures on a theater stage during the rest of the year ( I work with a local high school theater group and take their pictures.) so I really need one that works well in low light. I also love a good zoom. My zoom right now is 10 times optical and would love to go higher. Do you have any good suggestions. I right now have a panasonic and love it but the newer ones have not gotten such great reviews. Do you have any suggestions.

I'm not really up on the latest point & shoot cameras. Mine is a Nikon P7000 and it's already been upgraded to a new model. Although I've used it on a tripod to take some low-light photos, those were longer exposures than you would need for a stage production.

That's going to need a high ISO to get a fast shutter speed. Unfortunately, this is not an area where point & shoot cameras excel. One is due to shutter lag. The shutter doesn't click when you press the button, but rather, it lags behind for a second or more. You could completely miss the shot if you use a P&S for a stage show if you're trying to get a particular actor or moment. The other reason is that they tend to have more digital noise at high ISO. Some do better than others and you can use software to remove some of the noise, but a DSLR typically does better for that kind of situation.

Perhaps some other folks have found a camera that may work better than most. I recently went with a friend to buy his Sony NEX-7. It did surprisingly well in low light and is very easy to use. It isn't cheap, though.

This is very helpful. I also follow your blog, and appreciate both your photography and all the tips you share - its very kind of you!

Thanks. I think it's just part of the cycle. People shared tips with me and I try to share with others, too. Must be the circle of photography.

Thanks for publishing this, there are some really good ideas and examples in your book!

Thanks so much! Just downloaded it and plan to read over it tomorrow. Looking forward to getting some helpful insight for our trip this summer!

Thank you! I'm working my way thru "understanding exposure", this will be my next read. :thumbsup2

Just in the few moments I scanned thru it, I was given a different perspective on what to photograph. Thank you, we are going to Dland this weekend and I have a whole new look on what to click pics of.

Not sure if any of you have clicked through his website, but his Blog is brilliantly written and well worth checking out! I've spent hours reading through past updates, looking through photos and I've learnt so much that I haven't read in a book. I'm so glad I saw this thread, because that's how I found it :thumbsup2
