I was soo excited dh got a pin for free dining today, so I go on AAA to get a rate and see that WDW has extended the free dining offer. So does that mean the pin is no different that WDW offer?

They didn't extend the travel dates for free dining, they only extended the book-by date. I am sure the pin is for Oct-Dec dates. The general public deal that is available is only good through Oct.3.

Congrats to you! And, if you just got it today, I guess there is still hope that we could get the pin as well.
