Free Dining Watch 2009 - Dates Released!! Update post 1

I just got off the phone with WDW (paying for my May trip) and I asked the CM if there was any new news about the free dining. He said ((quoting word for word)) "No, no news yet, but we have a lot of people calling, and we expect it to be released any day now".

WOOHOO.....sounds good, I can't wait! But we are on vacation in Florida for a week (no WDW on this trip) Apr 4-11 so I hope its before that or after that;)

Okay, so we're gonna do it! :yay: After reading everything on here from you guys we're going to take our daughter to Disney World for her first birthday instead of Disneyland! I'M SO EXCITED!!! But anyway, so here's the deal, I always book online but with this whole free dining thing, I've seen you guys talking about being on the phones at 7am booking... do I need to call WDW and book it through a CM? Is it because they can see the availability of the resorts quicker than you can online? I'm in AZ, so 7am in Florida is 4am here! but if I need to be up at 4am booking my trip, I totally will! I've never done the whole free dining thing before so I'm super duper excited to try something new!!! :cheer2:

Well....I would say ONLY if there is a very particular resort and room view you HAVE to have. If you are ok with any value (or moderate) or any view at a Deluxe, you should be ok. IF you have a Disney Visa, then you really should be ok.
If you don't, then, yeah, especially if you want something in particular, call early.
I wouldn't rely on the website because 1) The icon may not be up immediately, and 2) it is notorious for crashing under these circumstances.

Happy Planning! :wizard:

Thanks for the info...do you guys think it's worth calling about it? Or just wait until it's posted? Also, has anyone ever booked free dining through AAA? I usually book my trip through Disney Direct and this trip is booked through AAA, kind of nervous about them being in control of it!!!!

Really no point in calling if it's not current yet.

A lot of people book free dining through their travel agents/AAA.
Just make sure they know of it as soon as you do.

I'm a Disney Visa holder. I'm also booked already, and going whether we get the free dining or not, but free eats would certainly make the trip even more fun :)

I am a Disney Visa holder. We haven't WDW booked yet. We have booked our Disney cruise. We will go to WDW after the cruise if free dining comes out. If there is no free dining, we will skip the WDW trip and just do the cruise.

Also, be prepared to be on hold for a while. I have called at at 7:00 am the past 2 years and waited about 45 minutes to get through. Last year I was calling on my cell while driving to work. Got through and was just about to give the credit card number and got cut off. Had to call back and waited another hour to get through again...but still was able to book POP. ;)

I wish I was a Disney Visa cardholder, but alas I am not. I know alot of people that would sign the petition mentioned earlier..... My fourteen year old is debating if he'll come with us this December. Do you think 14 is too young to go it alone thru the parks with a friend and a cell phone? :worried: Is Disney Quest worth the $40 entry fee? Any suggestions to persuade him to come? :rolleyes1

Geeze, I could've wrote the same exact post. I am a Disney Visa cardholder. We are gouing on the Aug 30 4 day. Will go back to WDW after the cruise if free dining is offered.

I already posted this question but cannot seem to find it. Can we book the for the free dining plan and then use rewards points from the Disney Visa to pay off part of the balance? I have about $500 - not great but enough to really help. thanks.
