Free Dining Watch 2009 - Dates Released!! Update post 1

If you want to compare your 40% off pins and free dining, you can get a pretty good idea now.

Take the total of your 40% off package. Add in the cost of the regular dining package for your family if you have not already.

Then price a Magic Your Way package of the same length. NOT a buy 4 get 3 package, price a regular Magic Your Way package. Make sure you have the same options included as your 40% off package i.e. insurance or not, park hoppers, water parks, number of ticket days, etc. Do NOT add in dining.

Now compare the two and see which is a better deal for your party.:)

We got the bounceback offer last Sept. to come back this Sept with free dining but hoping the offer comes out so our best friends can get it too!!party:

I have a friend who is a TA for AAA and she gets a WDW rep in their office once a month, and she also has hinted that my dates that I booked for Aug. 16th thru the 23rd are great dates to go. She just kept telling me not to change my ressie.

The 40% off pins are only on the room cost, not the tickets (at least that was the case with my pin code) :confused3

Yes, but usually they can be made into a package. The idea is the same either way. If you only have rooms booked with the pin code, then add in the cost of tickets AND the dining plan.:)

Yes, we booked a package with our code - but only the room cost portion was 40% off, sadly :sad2:

I have a friend who is a travel agent and she told me the free dining starts August 16th 2009...... that's all i know, so please don't ask.....

I think that there are lots of speculations and rumours out there. For example my very close friend has a close friend who works for Disney and says with certainty that free dining will be announced this month on the 27th. I don't think this can be true as the 4/3 promo runs until 3/29 so I can't see them running two promo's at once. I can just see the travel center going crazy with callers pricing out both to see which is a better deal :rotfl:

I would think at least 3/30 of not the first week in april.

Just my 2 cents

Correct. That's what I meant with my first post.

For the 40% off code you have discounted room, full price tickets and full price dining.

For free dining you would have discounted dining, full price tickets and full price room.

You can compare the two totals to see which works out the better deal.

If we're talking two adults in a deluxe room, the 40% off code will be better. 2 adults and two kids in a value - the free dining will be the better deal.

Please don't take this as rude, but I don't think ANYONE really knows EXCEPT Disney executives. Unless she's a CM with inside connections she's guessing like the rest of us. She's probably using last years dates as a guide.

The last time I went to my travel agent I knew a LOT more about Disney than she did. She hadn't been to WDW in years. She could tell me a lot more about nearly every OTHER place though. I've never been to Vegas, and don't plan to, and she knew all about it.

Just wanted to say that there is a PIn Code out there that was sent to a select number of ppl that started on August 16th I recieved one but didn't use it because I was already booked on the bounceback offer from last august and the bounceback dates this yr start August 23rd . Usually the window that opens up in April is smller than the bounceback so if in deed it does start on August 16th then it would probably end in early or mid september instead of late september. that's usually how it works . We should be hearing something shortly if they are offering it! At least rumors until the first week of April when it is released to Disney Visa card holders.:thumbsup2

The entire Dining board/forum will light up like the Osborne Family Lights!!!:lmao: :happytv: :rotfl2:
The Food porn thread will spring to new life, and suddenly EVERYONE is discussing ADRs and where the best Salmon is.:lmao:

HAHA!! This comment has kept me laughing and smiling all day long!

Might be a dumb question and may have already been asked an answered - anyway- does anyone think they will do free dining again in Dec? - when did they announce last yrs dates?
and (sorry) I thought I have seen mentioned before that the suites at All star Music aren't usually included in the free din promo? anybody know for sure? THANKS!!!

The only dates in Dec that free dining was available for last year was the 14th-20th, and it was only for Disney Visa cardholders. It was announced in mid September.

Sorry, I can't help you with the AS Suites question. :confused3

Oh yeah, I totally agree - each person really needs to run the numbers for their individual situation to see which option saves them the most! We're staying in a value (ASMu) and there are four of us (2 adults, 1 junior, 1 child), so it's a no-brainer for our situation to take FD if it's offered versus the 40% off room code we're already booked with. The 40% pin saves us just over US$300 for our stay, while the FD would save us US$130 PER DAY

Fingers crossed for FD big-time here! :dance3:

Awesome...thanks! I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will be going on in October! :cool1: I am glad to know that as a Disney Visa cardholder I have a great chance at getting it.

RE: FD AND 40% - probably not happening. However, I believe that the Disney Visa offer for later last year included a slight room discount in addition to FD. I believe you got a higher rate season for a lower rate. Not 100% on that, but I remember comparing prices and it was lower.

RE: DVC - As the point of the sale is to fill unfilled rooms AND get you to pay for a package...probably not. If you have DVC points, your room is already paid for, and does not benefit them. You'd only be paying for tickets.

Here's hoping for an announcement on the 30th! I have some serious planning to do!

That is our exact situation too. FD is definitely a better deal for us!
