I spoke to a travel agent today and she told me free dining has not been included in the past for Value resorts, and it has only been offered at Moderate/Delux resorts in the pass.

Is this correct? I was hoping for free dining this august at a value resort :(

That is not correct. Availability at any of the resorts is limited, and they don't release the # of rooms available at each, but you can book free dining at a value resort.

Not so. Only the offer made to residents of Great Britain did not include the value resorts. I do not know if there is a specific offer for Canadians or not - I always thought Canadians booked under the US offer.

Of course, no one can say with any certainty what the 2009 offer to the general public in the US will be, because it hasn't been made yet. But in the past the US offer always included value resorts.

I knew she didnt know what she was talking about!
when I went in there asking about free dining she was like there is NO SUCH THING and she was going on about how in 20 years of being in this buisness she has neveer heard of free dining, then I informed her that I spoke on the phone with Disney Ressies and they had told me there has been FD in the past!
and then she started looking and said it was only avail. for delux and mod resorts!

So i decided to come check with the oh so smart DISers :)

Thanks for the help!
here's to hoping for free dining in aug 2009!!

Vallie, I was thinking about using a TA for our next trip. Can you tell me which company you tried (I'd like to avoid them lol!). Thx!

Is free DDP availale to people from other countries? we are coming from New Zealand

Yes, ALL general public discounts are available to people from other countries too. We live in Austria and just took advantage of the 4/3 deal and have booked FD for the last 3 years booking through Disney directly - NO travel agent!! We will have FD again in August using a bounceback. :thumbsup2

I have book Free dining thru magic for less travel and small world vacations.

I have always stayed in the values, whichever is available!

Time to use one of the TA above or straight thru Disney! Anyone can buy a vacation!

As you already know, it is not correct - but I am entitled to my chance to speak, too ;)

The Disney Dining Plan started January 2, 2005.

I booked, and used, the Free Dining promotion in/for 2005, 2006, and 2007.
I booked and cancelled it in/for 2008 (due to being offered the use of DVC points).
And I have booked it again as BounceBack/Future Stay for 2009.

ALL years (except, ultimately, 2008) I have stayed or reserved Pop Century.

So, based on continual/consecutive personal experience, your Travel Agent is wrong wrong wrong ;)

hehe thanks for everyones helP!
i def will not be going back to her. I wasnt planning on using a travel agent but DBF and I were at the mall yesterday and decided to pop into a flight center just to see what they had to offer!

I will def be booking threw disney once fd (hopefully!) comes out!!

This is why I did not want to book thru any TA who may give you any wrong info and especially if you are trying to get the free dining. We booked with a TA that does Disney only (Small World) who will apply the code the minute it comes out for our upcoming trip Aug 24-Sep 7 at the Pop.

you can book Free Dining direct through Disney & save yourself a lot of hassle. Last year, I booked online for Free Dining -- was actually up at the crack of dawn (before it, really) and on hold for about 35 minutes on the first day FD opened to the public. Bored silly so came on to these boards...and found a thread where someone said they'd just booked Free Dining online on the Disney website. So while still on hold (just in case it didn't work) I booked online...Pop Century, a value resort. Still was on hold when I finished up, went to my email & made sure I had my confirmation before hanging up.

Best part about booking direct with Disney is if you want to change anything, you talk to them instead of having to go through a travel agent all the time.

I like my AAA TA, but it is more of a hassle to go through her.
