Free dining - switching reservation dates?

I have a question about switching the dates for vacation. We would ideally like to go on our trip starting around Sept 26 for 9 nights. However if the free dining offer won't apply to that (there has been talk both ways - that it wouldn't cover the whole trip and that it would if your check in date is within the right dates) we would go earlier in Sept. So if I go ahead and book the later dates and they aren't covered how hard will it be to switch my reservation to the free dining dates? Or should I book the dates we *think* may be included and then if the later dates would apply switch it to later? What do you think? I would like to book before the actual free dining offer comes out (I know - 'if') so I can make my ADRs at the 180 days out. Thoughts? Also - same question for switching resorts - if we don't have to go moderate for the free dining we will do value. Can I switch that too? TIA!

I went ahead and switched my dates in September, a week earlier for this very reason. From the 20th-28th to 13th-21st. I think the 13th-21st is probably safe.
