So what do you need to "book" to get FD?

I want to buy 10 day, non-exp.hoppers to have in my back pocket for a couple small trips since it's now just DH & I. Say FD comes out, do I have to book a ticket package to get it? Or is it room & dining for FD?

Do ALL packages have tickets? Am I wasting my time & $$ by getting the tickets ahead of time?

For free dining, you must book a minimum of a two-day non- park hopper ticket. You can NOT use the ticket and save it for a future trip.

I will pop in to say that we don't know the details of any upcoming FD promotion, if there is one...but it is pretty much guaranteed that you will need to make SOME sort of ticket purchase in your package (it used to be at least a 1-day base, last year it was 2) plus pay the full rack rate for the room.

"Bounceback" free dining promotions, etc. can have different requirements.

You have the option of getting the tickets and pocketing them for future use (they won't expire if you don't use them, and you can upgrade them to other tickets in the future), get the right-sized tickets and use them and save your NE tickets for the future, or don't get free dining, explore discounted room only deals and pay for the DDP instead. Sometimes it can be cheaper.

Can I do that? Someone else just told me you can't buy the dining plan unless you buy a package. I'd like to get my own tix, a discounted room and even pay for the DDP OOP.

Oops...yes, I'm thinking of AP holders that can get room only+dining. NE MYW tickets don't qualify. But if you are getting a regular package, you can get a 1-day base ticket instead of a 2-day (or whatever the requirement is).

One other route you could go to do this would be to rent DVC points. When you rent points, you can buy your tkts anywhere, and pay for the ddp when you check into your resort.

Not quite...the DDP has to be added to the DVC reservation at least 48 hours prior to check in, and payment is due at the time it is added to the reservation.

I stand corrected. I thought I had remember reading that when we were looking into renting last year. I thought you could pay at the front desk when you checked in. Oh well.
It is still another option the op would have to avoid having to buy a pkg.
