So a friend of mine just got a letter in the mail for the free dining plan for the fall - this extends past the original offer from September. I am planning on going in November - and this offer includes dates in November. She hasn't gone in a few years and I try to go at least every other year. Normally, Disney will send me an email or a card in the mail with an offer like that and I have not received one. Just curious if this is typical for them to offer it only to some people and not all. They normally send me offers a few times a year! Where is my offer?????

Yes, it is completely normal & typical for them to offer email/snail-mail promotions to only some people and not all. There are entire threads lamenting that people have never gotten an email promo.

We've been going to Disney World since 1990...and have been there 20+ times. In all those years, we received exactly ONE email offer. And that was for the same % off room discount that was on the Disney website for everyone. We never received any of the exclusive offers mentioned on this website.

First :welcome: to the DISboards :goodvibes

I haven't received any offers via snail mail or email in a while either. However, I have been calling once a week to see if I had any pin codes (which is a discount specifically for you). I finally got one but it's a room discount. We're looking for free dining. However, my current pin code expires on the 23rd and the CM told me it's not uncommon to have pin codes back to back. So I will be calling on the 24th to see if there is another one, specifically for free dining.

Last year free dining for the general public came out around August for the fall. If you are looking for that, be aware that there will be some black out dates associated with it depending on when you are going.

Call Disney to find out if you have a pin code. You never know. I didn't receive the free dining pin code that others have, but was told by a CM to call once a week to see if anything changes.

Btw, there is a forum for discount codes and rates that you can view here on the DISboards. There are even some that are month specific. You can find it by going to the Disney Resorts forum from the DISboard's main page. Once there, you will see Discount Codes and Rates at the top where the sub-forums are.

You can go to the WDW website and mock book a vacation and go to the bottom of the page and click SAVE FOR LATER. That is how I got my first PIN code and it was in the postal mail, not email. It was valid for my exact dates I had saved on the website.

I was unable to use it because our dates changed. But I called back after that offer expired and had a free dining PIN code associated with my name and did end up getting free dining for my new dates.

If you already have something booked, they will never send you a pin code. Or they never did me.

If you haven't done so, go to the WDW website and create an account, then you can mock book the vacation and save it for later.

I mock booked one with and one without dining plan to kind of let them know I might be interested in the dining plan. It worked.

I have gotten offers in the mail in the past and only a few weeks ago I received a % off offer in the mail, but we had already booked for our trip in October thru AAA and the % off thru AAA was better. I called last week to see if I had a pin attached to my name for free dining but no luck, maybe cause I'm already booked. I guess I''ll wait and see if Viat rewards has an early offer or just wait till a general public free dining offer then I'll switch my reservation to free dining and give up the % disconut , free dining is usually the better deal. :cool1::hippie:

We also have booked through AAA for October, and when i talked to our travel agent about the free dining that was being discussed here, she said that they dont generally find out about the free dining prior to it being released to the public because of the possibility of the information being leaked to the public.

I've done AAA before several times (love the diamond parking pass) and when free dining came out we went in and they changed our reservation to include the free dining, but we know no room discount. This year at POP we will probably get the QSDP never had that before but should be perfect with the Food and Wine Fest going on we won't have to take off for a TS, we can stay and feast at the Fest. We did make one TS at Le Cellier OOP just can't go to Disney and not go there.

We booked our travel dates in May with our TA for 11/29-12/8 (we wanted to book before the price increased in June). I called Disney 2 weeks ago and found I had a pin code. When I had called previously (I was calling once a week), I didn't have anything. So you never know. If you don't receive anything via snail mail or email, don't give up. You may still have one and not know it, but you have to call Disney to find out.

I better keep calling then, thanks

Thanks everyone! I think I will try and give Disney a call and see what they say. I have not given up hope! I usually get several coupons a year in my email and snail mail. Going in November will be a first for me. We used to go in the summer, but ever since they started free dining, we would go in September. But I want to see the Christmas decorations for the first time!
I have already done some mock bookings earlier in the year and received a discounted room coupon, but I want the free dining...still waiting :rolleyes1
Wish me luck!

I received a Free Dining Pin Code for the dates that we will be there. The only problem it starts half way through our trip. We arrive on the Oct. 12th and that is in the middle of black out dates. The offer doesn't start until the 19. We will still be there. What are the chances of us getting the free dining?

To be honest, the only way to get free dining for your stay would be for you to change your check in date to before the start of the black out dates or check in on the 19th when it picks up again.

You can't get the free dining unless you check in during the offer. Under the current offer, you would have to book two separate reservations, one from the 12th to the 19th and the other from the 19th on, then check out and check back in again. This wouldn't be the greatest solution because you'd have to buy park tickets with both reservations.

I also booked our vacation thru a TA. Every time I call asking to see if I have a code, they tell me that they can't access my reservation since it was booked thru a TA. Should I just keep calling?

They should be able to check for a PIN on your account without even knowing that you have a trip booked. If you do have a PIN, though, only your TA can get it applied.

So will every/any agent who answers know what I mean when I ask, "Is there a PIN attached to my account?" I feel like some of them will go, "Huh?"
And "account" - does this just mean anyone who has stayed at WDW before? How do you identify yourself - name? phone? address? email?

I was going to ask as well... what do you say when you call? I know when i have called before to ask a question before making another reservation, they asked for our phone number and last name & then made a comment like... you haven't visited us since xxxx. But i have never asked anything regarding pins or discounts attached to our account.

When you call Disney, just ask the CM if there are any pin codes attached to your household. They get calls all the time from people asking if there is a pin code attached to their name/household.
