We are thinking of planning a trip to WDW in the next couple of months. Actually, we are trying to decide...Universal or Disney. I know that if the free dining plan is going to make an appearance, that would sway DH's vote so...does anyone have any info regarding the dining plan for August?

Thanks!

We got free dining in November 2010. We're on property for only 2 days this November, too, and would love to take advantage of FD! (total of 10 days, but we are staying at our condo, too)

We are heading down October 15. Any word or speculation on free dining into october?

Historically free dining has not been offered during October.
Free dining is used as an enticement for people to book rooms.
October has become a busier time of year with the Food & Wine Festival and MNSSHP going on. These 2 events draw lots of people during this time. They don't need to offer free dining.

And even when there were October dates, mid month was blacked out before/after Columbus day.

It is often harder to book free dining near the dates you want to go. The FD we have in August (19-28) we booked last November. I think that offer closed at the end of last year.

I have also found that if I'm trying to book late, certain type of rooms or even whole catagories (mods) of resorts are fully booked for FD.

I wasn't even sure we would make it in August, but it was worth making the deposit anyway. As Disney intended, we are now going.

I have tinkered with the dates several times adding days. :rolleyes1

We've had free dining every year for the past 3 years from the second saturday in Dec. to the following Wed. It started off as 1 CS, 1 TS and 1 Snack per person per day. Then it changed to 2 CS and 2 Snacks per person per day and we just upgraded for $100 to the original. I don't see it offered as of now for that time this year. :confused3 I hope they add it as it saves us money and keeps us organized and on a somewhat normal schedule while were there. :)

Oct-Dec Free dining hasn't been announced yet if it even will be. They have done it the past 3 years on select dates. Last year it was opened up in July, the previous two years not until August...it's NEVER been announced this early (unless via PIN code to select lucky e-mailees) so the fact that it has not come out yet doesn't mean a thing.

...it's best to assume that it won't happen, and be happily surprised if it does. (This is my attitude anyways, as we are hoping for it for our November trip.)
