I think I get this, but I need confirmation/guidance. If I book a MYW pkg w/ free dining, choosing only a day base ticket, I can then take that ticket to a guest relations location and get an AP. Correct? I can use each member of my party's ticket to get each of them an AP. Correct? I know that only one ticket can be put toward each new ticket.

I think we are going to do this. It seems too good an offer to pass up. However, my sister already purchased her AP's. Can she also book MYW pkg w/ free dining, choosing a one day base ticket and just save those one day tickets to use for credit toward her next ticket purchase? Would she have to add on a no expiration option?

I know I'll get the info here. Thanks to all you experts!

I need to know the answer to this as well. I do know you can upgrade the one day base ticket to any kind of other MYW ticket, but not sure about the AP. I will be getting a DVC discounted AP....can I use the value of the one day base I have to buy for that??

And 3PRINCESSMOM, your sister can just keep her one day tickets for future use, no need to add no expiration option to it, they are good as long as they aren't used.

Folks did it in September, so unless they change the rule, you should be OK. I still have a one day ticket tucked away from the September trip. We had just gotten our grandson's AP in July, so couldn't use it. I put a note on it (as you know it looks like a room keycard) so I would know exactly what was on it when I need it. We are thinking of doing a long weekend and are AP holders, so will be looking to do something with the 1 day tickets also.

Yes. I did this in September when they had the free dining also. I bought a one day ticket, went to guest services where my first ADR was and upgraded. I bought an annual pass with my DVC discount. What a deal. I'll use that AP this August and save my new one day ticket for when I renew. :teeth:

I plan on doing the same day, but we are getting 7 day park hoppers. I will use the 7 day PH to either re-new or to get a brand new AP at the end of the trip whichever they will let me do.

I don't get it. By a base ticket, upgrade..to what?? I currently have AP's that expire in July. I want to make ressies using free dining. What is the best senario you can do. For as long as I've been trying to get the best deal at WDW, there's still so much I don't know... :confused3 Thanks.

NJ2Boardwalk,

With the free dining package you have to purchase at least a 1 day park pass (can be hopper or nonhoppper). So a lot of people who have annual passes do that and then when it comes time to re-new the AP the can apply the cost of that 1 day ticket towards the AP renewal price. Or sometimes people just hang on to the ticket for use at a later date.

Another scenario is that one person in a party has an AP and the others do not so then people buy the 1 day tickets again and just upgrade the 1 day ticket to whatever length of MYW ticket they want.

Folks,
I confirmed this today (DVC member services AP Number/CRO gave me the answer):

Yes, you buy a 1 day base ticket, then apply that ticket towards the price of an AP, AP renewal, DVC AP, or DVC AP renewal. :goodvibes

You have to do this transaction at guest services.

So if I were to purchase a base 1 day ticket for $67 to get the free dining deal, and put that amount towards a DVC discounted PAP, it would cost me $574 minus the DVC discount of $125 minus $67 = $382?

Is this correct? :confused3

Thanks everyone!

So you get free dining for the length of your resort ressie and it has nothing to do with the length of your park admission tickets? I always thought everything was linked together as a total package. Dang, I could have done this last year and saved a ton of money!!! We had AP's and the only meal deal you get is the dining card but we don't use those fancy restaurants!

I'm sure this probably isn't possible, but wanted to ask just in case. ;)

Before the Free Dining deal came out we were planning on purchasing our AP's with a military discount at the Shades of Green since my hubby is in the Army National Guard. Does anyone know if you can exchange the one day passes we will be receiving upon check-in at the SOG for our military passes, or is this something that can only be done at a Guest Services park entrance? I don't think they offer any military discounts at the park entrances, so I thought I'd see if anyone had experience with this - thanks!! :)

From what I understood WDW does offer military discounts, the SOG discount is not that much more. THis could have changed. Does anyone know if you can apply your one day park pass towards a Florida resident pass? That would be cool!

yes that is right :thumbsup2

We are buying a package for the first time and I bought the one day base ticket as we have AP's. I plan to put that ticket toward our next AP purchase. Is the ticket ON our room key?

I read that you should get it as a seperate entity so that it would not be activated and expire in 14 days.

Any info much appreciated.

yes, it is on your room key, but it can't get activated that way. I just gave two of my old one day base tickets (room keys) away as a gift to some friends and they have no problems at all using them.

MemoryMakers2669m, I am glad to hear that. One less line to stand in. ;)

BTW, we might have passed each other in December as we were at the AS Sports as well.

Slightly Goofy

SlightlyGoofy, we will be at ASSports this coming year. We have stayed at POP a couple times now and ASMovies. SO, this summer will hit Music, so figured we might as well do that one night in December at Sports so we can say we stayed at them all.

Okay - let me get this straight...

I have 2 day base tickets for my daughter and I, and my friend and her daughter who I am sharing a room with. They ONLY wanted 2 day base tickets. I thought everyone had to be the same ticket so I got us all of the same, thinking I had to buy another day for myself at the gate.

COULD I: upgrade just my daughter and myself to another day, or even a park hopper with our tickets (and leave my friends the same) once we got to Disney??

I would really like to know the answer to this...
-Wendy

Yes, any ticket can be upgraded. When we go, I will have an AP and my sister will not. So, we got 1 day base tickets and she will upgrade hers to a 3 day Hopper pass.

I'm assuming I can do this but want to make sure....I'm taking my 4 kids at end of Aug.My eldest already has an AP.I bought her an 8 day pass because that is what the rest of us needed. So I just keep her room key that her ticket is on and use that our next trip??? It seems strange using a room key that's expired.
