Free Dining Pins???

I guess I don't think I've ever heard of receiving pins for free dining. Is this common? Is it usually only offered during particular months?

We'll be traveling in June of 2011. Do y'all think there's any chance they might have a free dining pin for that time period? And, if so, is there any way to increase your odds of receiving a pin for free dining?

I just received one in a postcard in the mail. I have no need for them so of course I didnt use it. It's pretty much for free dining the rest of the year except around Thanksgiving.

I am an AP holder and DVC member and this particular offer came to my address but it had my mother's name on it. So I don't know if I would have been allowed to use it anyway. Nor do I know why it was sent to me. I may be DVC/AP but my mother isn't, maybe that is it.

I don't know how common FD pins are but I received one the end of May with fall dates. We used it when we booked our 11/28-12/4 trip. Of course, they have since released FD for everyone.

Prior to received my two different pin codes, I had been logged into the WDW web site and had 3-4 vacation offers on hold. After I cancelled the first two, I received the FD pin. I then booked our trip through our TA. After our trip was booked, I cancelled the remaining offers. Both times, I received a short survey which I checked the reason for cancelling was too expensive. I then received a second pin for 40%. Don't know if it was all a coincidence but that is how I received 2 pins in 10 days.

I got one for our upcoming December trip. I was pleased, since our arrival is during the blackout of public free dining.

I received a pin to my address in my sons name. He no longer lives here and hasn't for the past 10 yrs!! They will not allow me the free dinning because the pin is not in my name. Has anyone ever found a way around this? It figures that the free dinning is going on most dates this fall. Our dates happen to be black out ones. I was told if I had a code in my name the black
out dates would be waived. Very frustrating!!!
