Free Dining Oct-Dec Is Here!!

So is everyone going to get up early and do this whole thing again on Thursday.

Oh the drama.

This is all something that most of us will look back and laugh about. I know I am already laughing and crying at the same time.

Also...I know I posted this at some other point. But, I will say it again because maybe even one person will find it helpful. If there is no free dining extension, or you do not get a room because they are gone, there are other options to get you at least close to the number you would like to be at. If I can't get POR, I will likely try for a room-only discount there or even an AP discount. I know they are not guaranteed either. However, in the event I can get one of those, I will upgrade my ticket to an AP and purchase a Tables in Wonderland card. We have had it before and it is great! So, don't think there are not other avenues. It may not be AS GREAT as free dining, but it is something. It may be a bit more work, but what Disney vacation is easy to plan? It is work....fun work, but work :)

"Serpents and spiders, tail of a rat; call in the spirits, wherever they're at. Rap on a table; it's time to respond. Send us a message from somewhere beyond. Goblins and ghoulies from last Halloween: awaken the spirits with your tambourine. Creepies and crawlies, toads in a pond; let there be FREE DINING, from regions beyond! Wizards and witches, wherever you dwell, give us a hint, by ringing a bell!"

:hippie:

This was great!

I've been reading for hours. Literally bc you guys type faster than I can read lol.
I'm sorry for those of you that did not have a productive morning. Don't give up hope.
Please do not bash Joe or Dave. They got you excited for a promo and even though you are down today you have spent the last few in a happy place. Doesn't mean you won't hit that happy place again.
Aug 1 is another day and even if it doesn't happen then please stay civil and remember the whole point of Dis is to have a place to exchange information and Enjoy the company of other fellow Disney fans.
I'll be wishing pixie dust on you all. Whether mean or nice bc I enjoy Disney so much that I want everyone to.
Have a happy day. Find your laughing place (or something close) and spend some time there today (I plan on watching Splash Mountain on YouTube then my Disney planning DVD)

Ok, I am a little lost by everyone saying 'they booked rooms under the pretense of Free Dining'........in all the years that I received FD, the rooms that had this offer were set-aside, therefore you couldn't have booked them beforehand. Meaning, if you booked a room at BC before FD, there was no guarantee this room would fall under the FD package that was set-aside.

We are most certainly taking our Nov trip to 'somewhere' on the DW resort grounds--but will wait to book until the RO or FD discounts come out. And if they don't come out, we will just stick with a Moderate resort and pay the regular price. It is what it is---if you want to go to DW bad enough, you will find a way, regardless of discounts.

I don't think they "set aside" until they are ready to release the offer. Before then, they are trying to sell them at full price.

Unfortunately this simple logic seems to escape most people here. People who can't afford to go or won't go without a discount of some sort continue to book rooms thinking it somehow gives them dibs. It doesn't seem to matter how many times someone makes a post like yours they keep making these reservations that are pointless, don't help them, actually hamper discounts coming out and they have no intention of keeping the reservation.

What is funny to me about that posting is that he is shocked that the first week in Dec. is listed... I am not shocked because that runs into pop warner week. aka crazy football and cheerleader time. I know, I was caught smack dab in the middle of it last year (on a free dining promotion)

But agree... i don't think we have seen the end of FD promos for 2013 yet

Pop is the week after this year...starting the 7th http://**************.net/2010/05/30/pop-warner-week-at-walt-disney-world/

Yep, at least once, I was holding a reservation and I had it converted to Free Dining after the offer came out.

I don't think we know the Disney Policy.

Pardon my ignorance for this is my first time trying to get FD, but if you are booking on the Disney Visa don't you need the code from their website to book it? Somewhere I thought I saw in this massive thread that you have to wait until it shows up on the Rewards page.

And if I don't get a call in for a couple of hours, what are the odds it will sell out?

You missed my point---there are people on here booking rooms AHEAD of the FD offer, under the pretense that said room can be kept once the offer comes out. Then, when the offer does not come out, they can't afford the room.

The FD offer (once it comes out) is TIED to certain rooms at the resorts. Meaning, you cannot book the room ahead of time, UNTIL the FD offer comes out. So, by booking a room at BC (or the like) you are not guaranteed to keep this room when/if FD comes out.

Basically, if you are dependent on FD, you really shouldn't book until you KNOW it is coming out---OR, book a moderate/value that you know you can afford.

I've been on other non-Disney boards where a handful of disgruntled people led to the elimination of "inside information" because the disgruntled were too dense to realize the information wasn't a guaranteed entitlement but rather a peak into one possible future.

To those who are foaming at the mouth, I'd say, "Be patient." All the rumors said August 1. From there, it was logical speculation that DV would kick in a few days early, but it wasn't guaranteed. It doesn't always happen.

You're going to look pretty stupid if you embarrass yourself by what you're saying here only to realize the information was accurate but a few days off.

This may be the last year we're in America for a long time. We never know where we will live next. Part of my stress over wanting to do it this year. We're military and that's allowed us to go to Disney Paris and Tokyo but I want my girls to see what was for me growing up "the real Disney". We could do like many Americans and put it on credit cards and pay it off in the coming years but spouse and I don't live like that. I'd like to say a lot of bad words but I'm hoping you didn't mean to sound so snobbish.
