Free Dining Oct-Dec Is Here!!

Not sure if this has been covered but I plan on being one of the obsessed ones on the phone first thing Monday morning and from what I gather I need to use my Disney Visa card to make a deposit/payment. Most of my vacation is already paid for so is there still a minimum to how much I need to put on the card or could I just do like $20? Also, I am planning on moving my vacation forward a day (arrive on a Monday, instead of a Sunday & leave the following Monday instead of that Sunday) since I will be able to save around $300 on airfare this way. Should I do that now or just do it when I call Monday? I assume I will have a better chance to get the room I want if I change it Monday since I wont be removing a room from the FD pool before the offer opens.

Have you put any of your trip on your DV? If not, you will need to make a $200 payment with the DV. If you have already paid $200 with the DV, there will be no additional payment required. I would just change everything on Monday, but if you need to book your airfare now to get the best price, go ahead and change the hotel, too, so you are guaranteed to at least have a room.

I didn't use the DV to pay for any of the trip but I also don't owe $200. Will that stop me from being able to get the Free Dining on Monday?

No not at all. They will either have you pay the rest of your balance or just refund some of your money that you paid so you can put the full $200 on the DV. You will not be blocked from the discount.

Anybody have a suggestion for a back up resort preference for POP? Surely I'll be ok since I don't need a preferred room anyway. However, I don't know if All star movies or all star music would be better. I lean toward music since we stayed at all star movies last time. It was great, but seeing another resort would be preferred (I think!!)

You shouldn't have a problem getting a room at Pop, but for your backup I say try something new!!! Music, then???

We were not able to get a room at Pop with the FD pin for the week we wanted. We changed weeks instead. Of course, that was the first week of Dec. which I don't think is expected to even be offered to the public.

I know, those PIN dates were really thin, especially that week. I was trying to sneak in an extra visit with a great friend for the 4-8th and there were no Values when I checked. But just remember, PIN room allotment and free dining room allotments are two different room pools; so there should be better choices!

They'll let you do it. You can book up to 3 rooms per discount, so you should be good.

You can no longer use a AAA discount and a FD discount....our 1st year we had both applied...but no discounts can be combined with a FD booking.

Yes, understood. TA has to swap out the one discount with the other, so I will lose the 15%, thus that room rate increase (about $300). Bummer though. I also think I'll have to pay more on the tickets, but not sure yet how that will be impacted.

Does it have to be at the 200 pricepoint? Like, could I call today and pay 100, and since they will then have my DV card in their file monday it'll be valid? Or you have to pay 200? (Not that paying 200 is an issue haha, I just am curious on how it works

The only thing holding me back from getting the Disney Visa is the annual fee. Right now I have a bank debit card and an Amazon visa. Neither have fees. I don't think I would save enough with the DV to get my annual fee back. Any experience? Thoughts?
