Free Dining Oct-Dec Is Here!!

Many TAs would post about it here and on other forums and Facebook. It would show up in their date lists. You'd know about it the day it happened for sure...no worries there.

Thanks

P.s. good move Angela, I wanted post 1000 but you slid in right before me.

Do you think November 10 will be included in the RO ? I hope so! Fingers crossed!!!

It stands a good chance, as the room discounts tend to spread out further than free dining. It covered half of August on the last round, which was great for those who didn't catch free dining for that time. I think the major holidays will of course be off the table, but we should see wider date ranges, as before.

I sure hope so because that is better discount for me. I did pay for the dxdp but we check in the 10 and there is no way I can move my dates because if work. Also we have CRT booked for the 10th and there is no way I'm paying oop for that !!!

There are no standard or garden view rooms at POFQ for my dates 10/19 to 10/25. Also there are no standard or preferred at POR. Seems like there will be little availability.

Wait to see what happens on 8/1, they tend to open more rooms for the gp offer. And after the ro discount comes out, some rooms will open as people start moving to upgrade to delux resort's.

We are looking for a RO discount at a deluxe resort for 10/19-10/25. There is almost no availability at any Epcot resort for the end of that date range. We might have to move down to a moderate for at least part of our stay. I am concerned about the availability in general when these discounts get released.

This is why decided to say screw it and just plan to get a suite at AoA. My 3 year old is 110% obsessed with Cars 2 so in a continuing parental strategy of spoiling our youngest beyond words, he will get a Cars suite (oh and we don't have to worry about fighting with every other family of 5).

and my friend who has an AP didn't have to buy a 2 day ticket........

Was it "free" dining your AP holder friend got without having to buy a ticket? They always required a 1 or 2 day ticket. DVC AP holders can get the dining plan without having to buy a ticket (normally its part of a room and ticket package) but its not free.

I don't see how holding a dummy reservation is going to be advantageous in scoring free dining either. Rack rate, room-only discount, AAA discount, military discount, marathon discounts, free dining are all separate room pools. If you're in one, that doesn't guarantee you'll be able to get into the other. They do not "convert" your currently held reservation to a new promotion. The room has to come from the promotional pool. There may or may not be a similar room available in the promotional group. Now, at times, Disney has added more rooms to the promotional pool as they see the need. They have goals on capacity and how fast rooms are selling. If they're not selling, due to a sluggish economy or whatever the reason, Disney may add more discounts, increase the discounted pool or send out pin codes. I have been successful in putting in a request through Disney Sports to increase availability in the marathon discount pool for specific days at a specific resort in the past, but that is a special group promotion, so they may be more inclined to meet that type of request.

We are currently booked 10/19/13 thru 10/27/13 at the AKL Club Level. Does anyone know if they offer FD ever in the club level rooms?

We have the Disney Visa Debit card so will definitely be trying to get this if at all possible on the 29th. Every little bit helps.

I remember those days when my 2 sons still wanted to go to disney:rotfl2: Our sit down meals would come to 300 or 400 dollars, free dining was awesome back then!

I feel your pain! We have 5 kids with the oldest 4 being boys! It looks like free dining will be offered for us so hoping for that or military salute extension w paid dining plan. We did some meal pricing and Each sit down meal would be at least 300 for us! (Three kids are Disney adults on the meal plan)

For Free Dining? In what room pool were you looking. I just looked at your dates... (a made up family of 4) and saw standard, garden view, water view, and Royal guest room. I looked at package and room-only. I also looked an Annual Passholder rate and it was the same as rack rate...so no discount at POR for that one.

I want to add that I agree...if you have a teen or pre-teen or early 20's male in your family.... free dining is especially a good deal..and so are buffets (paid or not). For my currently family configuration of 2 adults and 11 year old little girl that eats like a 6 year old, not so much. You also have to be care with those in between ages on the dining plan. 10 year olds are expected to eat adult meals. That doesn't work for us at all. My nephew, when he was 10, we were on the paid dinning plan, and he didn't want to eat anything on the adult menu. We ended up using adult dining credits for kids meals in some places that they'd let us. It was a waste of money for us.

and in the big ticket meal category, we had Thanksgiving dinner 2012 at Whispering Canyon Cafe with 11 adults and 1 child. We had a specially ordered birthday cake from private dining and drinks. Our bill was over $700!!! And of course we couldn't use our Tables in Wonderland on Thanksgiving day...so no discounts for us!

OMG!!!! How did I miss this news and thread over the last few days? And how did I not see this until it got to page 68?:confused3

Thanks so much Black562! You made my day. If the FD was going to go by the PIN dates, then I would have had to check in on Halloween and my kids already said they didn't want to miss trick or treating at home. Yay!

I agree. That CM should not have done that.

It was a couple of years ago and around 6 pm. Maybe he was tired and just wanted to get me off the phone or he was new and didn't know better LOL. The offers were available on their system the night before the official release date so I jumped in and it worked.

Or they could at least offer more rooms there that sleep 5 since the preferred rooms sell out to non parties of 5 as well.

There may be hope! Looks like CBR might be an option in the future. On the big resort thread someone posted about someone who was able to "sneak" in and get some pics of a mock up refurb. There is a pic of one of those bench stands that looks identical to those murphy fold-outs at POR. Here's to hoping that there will be more family of 5 options down the road. (I don't think I'm allowed to post a link, so google "CBR new rooms 2013" and click on the first search that comes up.)

I've already arranged to go in later to work on Aug 1st so I can call at 7am! Those extra days from visa offer to GP are going to kill me. Wish we had Chase in our small town.

You don't have to have Chase in your town to get a Disney Rewards Visa card - just apply online if you want to. The DR premium visa - earn 2% rewards on most things Disney, gas & groceries) has a $49 annual fee (not pro-rated if you cancel it early, but the regular DRV (1% rewards) does not. If you pay for your Disney vacation with your DRV card, you have 6 months with no interest (not sure if they accrue it and add it to account if it's not paid w/in 6 months or if it's totally interest free during that time).
I just upgraded mine to the premium card because the extra rewards dollars I'll get when balance of WDW vacation is paid with that card will pretty much take care of the fee for this year. Next year, I'll downgrade back to regular to avoid the fee. :)

No way! That would be awesome! I love POR, but it is great to have options. : ) I'm going to check it out later today when I have time... Thanks for the tip!

Oooooo....I just love the juicy things we learn here! Thanks for the 411!:cool1:

Interestingly enough, you may very well be right.
