Free Dining Oct-Dec Is Here!!

Not enough room for a bed! Not even a twin. And Disney wouldn't take a risk with patrons sleeping below a tv or require them to move it.

Actually, it's the same design as POR. Here's photos of the bed up and down. It folds down and the TV would have to be anchored to the wall so it wouldn't tumble over. Perhaps someone that's stayed at one of these rooms at POR can confirm how this is handled?

Our vacation is planned from 10/14-10/26. We were planning on staying for 1 wk at mom's timeshare, but availability @ TS has decreased significantly. So instead, we are now looking at a split stay on property for the full stay.

Revised thoughts are 10/14-10/18 resort TBD (friend is a cast member working on RO discount that is very attractive), and then 10/18-10/26 at AoA-cars room, currently reserved, but I know we will need to reconfirm availability once FD is available.

I know this has been asked several times before, but when we call, Disney CM always say park passes can't be picked before you check into your room. I know there was a link to a site that says park passes can be picked up three days prior to checking into your room that has the package (so in this case, we could pick up three days prior to 10/18, which is Tuesday 10/15). Can someone reconfirm that my thinking is correct? We already have BBB and CRT booked on 10/15 that I would hate to give up, or have to spend the extra $ on a single day park pass to make it happen. I don't want to be surprised when we get there since we have already paid for CRT!

Thx!
Corey and Terry

Ok. Spoke to my TA about the FD for October. We will be changing our resort to POP. We have reservations at AOA, but since we can't use FD for the standard rooms, POP is the next best for value for us. We thought about upgrading to a moderate, but it is still does not look cheaper than just upgrading to DP at a value.

Personally, I would just upgrade to the regular DDP rather than deluxe. 1 TS, 1 QS & 1 snack per person per night is a fair amount of food, and you can always keep snacks in your room, buy extra snacks or QS meals, etc. Besides the cost to upgrade to deluxe DDP being pretty steep, if you do 2 TS meals per day, you're not only going to spend a LOT of time in restaurants, it really cuts into your park time as you have to schedule rides, shows, etc around your meal times. You can use a TS credit for a QS meal, but if you're going to do that, why pay the extra $$$ for the deluxe plan? Just my opinion ...

That was my thoughts as well. I changed it and just won't say anything to him. Until I show him the numbers. And buy doing more qs we will save gratuity, since We are now paying for everything. Another thing is we will be there for the Food and Wine Festival so that day we wont want to eat in a restaurant. I plan on doing a lot of snack size tasting.

lol...that sounds like something I would do.:rotfl2: If I had already been to AoA, I would be booking at All-Star Sports for September. But I have to try out one of those super cute suites!

Seriously!!! I chose that resort because it has the appearance of being vacant....with all these posters upgrading to it, I'm gonna have to change....

Edited: nothing against anyone, but I cannot tolerate being crowded or feeling like it....which is why I will NEVER stay value again.

If the link works...this is the pic http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b553/florida995/photo6_zps6aa010eb.jpg

So those double doors open up and a murphy bed comes down over the narrow bench? That sounds interesting. I hope the TV doesn't fall. I also hope there is enough drawer space for a family of 5.

Excellent news! I am part of a family of 5, and short of a deluxe level resort our only option is Port Orleans Riverside. POR is our favorite resort, so thankfully it can accomodate 5, but it is nice to see another moderate level Disney resort possibly refurbing some rooms to accomodate 5 in case in future POR has no availability for us.

So I am going to WDW Oct. 4-12th so going to miss FD. Does anyone think there is a chance the current room only discount of 25% for POR that expires the end of September will get carried over to October? I need a little pixie dust for some type of discount!pixiedust:

lol...Sports food court is closed, so I am guessing it will feel vacant...just as a last resort option...

Just FYI, I love Values and only stay at them.

Looks like they were working on Jamaica 44 back at the end if April, so I'm not sure what's up now. Those could have been a couple of model rooms or they could be working full tilt. Information is somewhat quiet on the matter.

I am SOOOOOO interested in this... I wonder when we will find out more information. I am hoping it is close to done for Aug. 2014... :cool1:

HI,
We have our 1st WDW vacation booked for 11/6-11/11 at the Poly. Just saw this announcement about free dining offer being extended- which is AWESOME!
My question is, should I call and change my dates now to ones that will be included in the free dining offer or do I wait until 8/1 then call and reschedule our vacation?
Any help / advice would be greatly appreciated!! :)

Congrats on your first trip!!! Yea!:yay::yay:

There is really no advantage to changing right now; would suggest waiting till offer is live and then you will know what exactly is available. Good luck!:thumbsup2

This was from mickeystoontown on the CBR Resort Thread (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3032047&page=71).

It's going to happen! The rooms at the Caribbean Beach Resort will be undergoing a complete refurb which will start sometime in 2014.

I spoke with someone (a higher up) at Caribbean Beach Resort (not the call center) who confirmed this information. I can't divulge any names or contact information but I can tell you that I received the telephone number from someone in Walt Disney World Resort, Guest Experience Services, which was in response to a letter that I wrote to Disney.

I questioned the castmember (only referring to this person as a castmember because I do not know her proper title and know that Disney employees are referred to as castmembers) on whether or not it would be happening during our May, 2014 stay and she said that she believed that it would but they would be doing it in phases so there's no definite time frame as to when each village would be underdoing the refurb. They do not have a schedule yet but have been told that it is happening.

As when the refurb was done at Port Orleans, they will do their best not to inconvenience the guests and it will be done building by building or possibly village by village.

I am to call her back right after Labor Day to speak with her again regarding our next stay and she may have more information. I will also ask her about queen beds since I totally forgot to ask if the CBR would be getting them.

I'll keep ya'll updated as I get information but I think this is great news!

I think I recall seeing something in the Orlando Attractions magizine about this, but not sure. I'm reading so much about Orlando/Disney right now, I can't keep track where I here what :rotfl:

What am I missing? I didn't see a whole lot of people changing to CBR. Or is it just because availability is limited at the other mods that makes you think everyone will?

I saw this as well; however, there are rooms currently being remodeled as of at least April, as shown by the poster who had photos of one. I'm not sure if they're just testing out a few rooms first, or if they got a head start, but something is happening.

It would probably be better if you wait. Since you have the option of changing to 11/11 or 11/2 to snag a discount you'll have a better idea what's out there. I feel disney is holding some rooms with the anticipation of these next promos. Iv been looking for a ro ress and I can still get rooms on the standard category. But I'm not being picky since its only for one night. But I find it really hard to believe that all these rooms are filled or why offer ANY discount at all. Doesn't make sense.:confused3

Thank you!! That's what I'll do :)
I'm not picky about the room- standard is good at either the Poly or Beach Club. Both look beautiful!:lovestruc

I LOVE the poly. We're staying at POR this time because my mother loves New Orleans so this is where we ended up. But I made sure that we got Kona cafe two times for breakfast. We all need to keep positive about the room availability. I'm sure on fd day we will all get what we want.
