Free Dining Oct-Dec Is Here!! Dates Confirmed!!! ~ Part 2

sadly for my family it will be 4-5 years before we can afford to go again. But I do follow the DIS even when no trip is being planned.

Wondering if we will have Magic Bands and FP+ in October.

I'm wondering that too. It's such a hot topic for some, but I'm hoping to have a chance to try it. I know I'm probably a freak, but I plan my park days at the 180 mark - so the planning ahead part intrigues me.

So on the question of 2014 deal predictions...Joe and I have been kicking that around for a bit.

The variables in my mind are, so far, Fastpass+, and especially any special privileges in it for WDW resort guest, the date of the mine train opening, and the opening dates of Harry Potter 2 and Universal's 4th hotel. And I'm forgetting some other issues.

I need to deeply study Universal's earnings report and call from earlier this week--especially the higher and faster capital spend commitment reported--Disney's earnings report and call next week and any Fastpass+ predictions in it, etc...I have a sneaky feeling the date for Fastpass will be announced on the Disney quarterly earnings call in a more precise way then we've heard so far--and that it'll be Feb 2014. But it's just a suspicion...

All while bouncing this back and forth off Joe's head...

Don't bounce it off too hard though, it still hurts from this week.

I feel like we should just become like Oprah....

"YOU get free dining....YOU get free dining...."

"EVERYONE GETS FREE DINING!!!!" :wizard:

At first I was thinking PLEASE don't let them be rolled out before Oct. 19th, I don't want to have to figure this out at the last minute. Now I'm thinking it would be kind of nice to FP+ TSM and some of the other headliners on line.

Joe + Dave, any inside info on MB and FP+?

I wish...I would love the slightest chance of being able to get a MB for my trip, but I don't really see that happening unless they offer it up as a test.

That's all I need, something that I have to purchase decoration for....here Disney, just take my money!!!

I think this applies to us all...would you tend to agree Dave?

You did you did! But Smitch and others set me right. And thanks so much for the kind words about my site...but are you sure you aren't thinking about Josh???

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! I think you're being confused with Josh at easyWDW too!

Do you think the changes coming to DTD are exciting enough to have any effect at all? Is it still going to be mostly shopping? And nothing like the old PI use to be, right?

No. The deals are solely about WDW resort hotel occupancy. I don't see much impact of DTD on that...with the possible exception of Saratoga Springs...and, while I don't track DTD that closely, I don't foresee much change in DTD in Q1 2014

I may have confused them. HOWEVER, I am completely addicted to your first visit as well and am now a complete addict of earnings calls, stock prices, and the macroeconomic environment related to Disney because of the One and Only Dave. You have created an analytic monster in me, I'm afraid. And that is a good thing.

Now that things have calmed down a bit here maybe someone can help me...

I already have FD for my dates so I didn't want to bother anyone before.

My problem is...
I haven't been able to even SEE the new offer on the Disney site. If I go to the site and click on "special offers" I can see the banner at the top that says "Explore special offers at Walt Disney World Resort". Under that it's just blank except for the box where FL residents type in their zip code. If I click on the FD link at the top of the DIS or other sites, I get an error code message and still can't view the offer. I was able to see the September FD offer but now nothing :confused3

This isn't a big deal since I already have my trip booked but I was just wondering if I needed to update something on my computer. I'm sure I will want to book another offer in the future so I wanted to make sure that I get this fixed if it's a problem on my end.

Obviously I am not a computer person but thought maybe someone could help me out...

I'd love to know this too. My invoice and emailed confirmation say MYW w free dining but MDE just says my dates, Pop Century Standard, and my price due. Nothing about dining. Neither computer or app. Nothing about a dining plan. It does have my two ADRs linked. But I'm paying oop for those as I'm QSDP. And it does show the new price as the charged me "taxes"

I'm not positive, but I don't think MDE shows dining package credits anywhere. I didn't see it anywhere when I booked a paid dining back in Feb.

As long as it is on your invoice, you are fine. My invoice from my TA showed it when it was paid and my adjusted invoice showed it as free. Only my total changed.

Any veteran DIS'ers wanna chime in on this?

Joe + Dave, any inside info on MB and FP+?

Not a shred of inside info. I hear the same things as everyone else on this, and then just reason about what I hear and try to synthesize it into something like a prediction.

What I hear is that FP+ is more than 6 months behind, there's continuing massive IT issues, New Fantasyland has delivered only half the growth expected, and that therefore both cash flow and investment capital are scarce compared to plan (for all three reasons).

Since Rasulo and Staggs are both deeply implicated in all the above, and are reportedly both in the running for Iger's job, I think that's why Iger is staying on for another year...to see how well Stagg's plans, as formerly approved, and then modified and executed by Rasulo when they switched jobs, turn out, and if as a result either pulls ahead...

So all this...plus Harry Potter and the new Universal hotel...make me think early 2014 for FP+

Woah. I was just thinking as I read that, that they need better financial forecasters over there. The guys who do that for my company are verrry smart. I envy them. I wonder what office days are like over in the Finance department.

Not sure if this is the same thing that's happened to you, but this is what was happening to me on my iPad and I realized I was going through the old disney site, then every time I tried the regular one it would bounce me back to the old one. I cleared my history and all the other things I could clear and went back and it was normal. So maybe try clearing things on your Internet history and try again?

They utterly rebuilt their IT using all kinds of different apps and best-of-breed stuff. I was at the annual Disney Analytics and Optimization Summit in the summer of 2012 and was really impressed by the bravery of what I heard about.

A little too brave, it seems, and this "annual" summit was canceled this summer, to return in 2014--for, I suspect, the reason that everyone was really really busy on re-work...
