Free Dining-help-is this correct? How did that rate appear?

In another post I see this:

We're doing the free dining and we have APs.

We're booked at POP for 9 nights at $77/night rack rate with free dining, 2 adults, 2 children, 1-day MYW base tickets - $1,004.74

So, for $1K we get room, food, and tickets that we can use next year. Sounds like a great deal to me.

My trip will be for 2, me and DD (12). We are staying at POP in Nov for 9 nights and have AP's.

I read a lot about this and I have some confusion

I went to Dis site on-line, not as AP and did POP 9 nights and 1 day tickets and dining. Rack rate 77.00. It gave me a price of $1542.37 !!!! So how did oogie get that rate????

Also, we don't eat much, not sure if its a deal for us either way. How can I figure this out???

And I do not see how you can get that one day ticket applied to AP's because it doesn't let you choose no expire option on line????

The free dining doesn't go into November. I believe that it ends October 4th. I also believe that November is Regular season, meaning that POP is $99 per night + tax. If you get 1 day tickets for each- that is about $64 each. I don't know offhand how much dining is for each to add but you have already hit about $1100, unless I am calculating incorrectly.

The rate for POP is 77 now, I am talking Nov 30th.

I called CM and this is what he said.

#1 he came up with same rates as I did online both ways.
#2 he said the same thing, that rate Oggie got was thru Oct.
#3 he didnt know if they would offer it again in Nov, but says if I go with AP best rate program, and dining comes, I can go up, BUT if I go dining now, I can't go back to best rate.
#4 he said the one day ticket doesn't expire, but CANNOT be used toward re-newing AP as some here have said.
#5 he is thinking I will be better off with best rate anyway...

I know we hear different things, so I don't know...

The free dining is thru Oct 4 check-in date. We're going Sept 23 - Oct 2.

The free dining doesn't apply in November, so you'd be adding $35/adult and $10/child per day during that time.

Yes, you cannot put a no-expiration option to the 1-day ticket, however it doesn't expire unless you use it. We plan to use our APs and not use the 1-day ticket at all. Next year, when our APs expire, we'll upgrade the 1-day tickets to new APs, not towards renewal, or towards MYW tickets (whichever is best).

If you go with the best rate AP program, my understanding is that this is a room-only reservation, and if you want to go package, you will have to cancel the reservation and book a new one. If I further understand the best rate AP program, you would stand to lose the non-refundable 1 night deposit.

At this point no one knows if the free dining will be offered again after Oct. It's up in the air at the moment. IMO, I think you're better off with the AP rate and purchasing a DDE card at $50.

Also, the fact the DD is 12 is changing the rate quite a bit as well since she is considered an adult by Disney standards.

Wow...this thread hasn't been posted on for several weeks so I hope that SOMEONE can answer my question (I posted it on another thread but I think I'm being ignored). As far as using the single base ticket to upgrade to an AP: if I have the free dining option, will my package be effected if I upgrade the FIRST day of my stay? And does anyone know if there are limitations? Will I have a problem upgrading the base tickets to Florida Seasonal Passes?

I guess the worse case senario is I sink close to $200 into passes that I can't use right now. But they don't expire so I suppose I can use them on a future trip to Universal or something....but wow that seems over priced for a one day/no hopping pass....guess it's still worth it for the free dining for 6 days. My soon to be 6-year-old boy is on a mission to see how much he can eat in a day/grow in a year! I swear he's shot up over 8" since last Chirstmas....he can ride EVERY ride at the world this trip! (sorry had to squeeze that in b/c he's going nuts over the rockin roller coaster).
