Free dining gone?

There is one on at WDW now. To be booked by August 31st with scattered dates from now to December 21st.

been awhile since last trip... Haven't seen any free dining offers . Are they history?

For the past two years, it's only been offered to the general public in the fall with fewer and fewer dates each year. There is a bounceback offer at resorts now for next year with many dates, including some during the summer months.

Even next years BB is very limited. The only dates in Sept are the 1-9 and then nothing for the rest of Sept, Oct, Nov and then starts again in December.

The FD promo right now is for Canada only and ends on Wednesday.

Edit: The 2017 FD dates are as follows:

05/30-06/06, 06/30-07/05, 08/11-09/09 and 12/08-12/20

And those dates are Bounceback only -- you can't just call and book them.

Fall and winter free dining had to be booked by end of July. There are FD bounce back offers for those staying until end of Sept. for dates in late 2016 and parts of 2017. Probable 2017 FD dates have been leaked.

I don't know that I would say dates have been leaked. The dates out there are the Bounceback offer, and if I'm remembering correctly, the bounceback offers don't always correlate with any general public offers that come out the following year.

I tried to book the free dining package that was offered earlier this year and couldn't find dates that would work, although it was towards the end of the booking period. Only availability I could find was in September and that doesn't work for us because my wife works for the local school system. Couldn't find anything in October/November at the resort we wanted. Don't know if that is normal or not.

The later you wait to book, the less availability there is.

true - but people should not expect things to be much better than the BB IMO.

Disney has been talking about getting rid of the "big" discounts for a while they do seem to be interested in "revenue per customer" at what seems to be a reduction in attendance of locals and off site guests. (4% decrees in attendance but a 3% increase in resort guests)
It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

It is not unusual at all - there are only so many rooms with each offer.
Sometimes only the more expensive rooms are available with FD and it can change from day to day based on cancellations.
Sometimes room only discounts have the cheaper rooms available and FD does not - so that can make a big difference between the room only deal and the FD deal.

Don't expect October to get free dining next year. If they use this year's booking as a guide, it won't happen for US customers.

1) Your date preferences are different than WDW's needs.
2) Either change your dates, change her job, or change your plan of Free Dining.
3) Lots of teachers come to WDW, so they don't need to offer inducements on Teacher-available dates.
4) Basically . . . Why offer discounts if you don't have to?

we have already booked a deluxe dining pkg for dec 2017 but just wondered if any special deals around then... dec 4-10 2017
