free dining booking question

If I book a vacation package (including the dining plan), then later receive an offer for free dining, can I change my previous reservation, or do I have to book initially with the free dining offer? Thanks

You can always change your ressie to include a discount, but I think you have to cancel one and book another, which means that your confirmation # and requests will be lost. Also, there are a limited number of a particular type of discount available at a given resort, so you may not be able to get exactly what you had before, so stay flexible.

The only time you would need to cancel a reservation is if you initially booked a "room only" reservation. If you currently have a package booked with a dining plan and free dining becomes available, you just need to call and have them try to apply it to your current reservation #. If there is no availability at your current resort, they will let you know which resorts do have availability. You would NEVER need to redo your ADRs. They will not be affected because you can have ADRs without even beeing on a dinig plan. Good luck and happy planning!

Most definitely...we booked our previous trip WAAAAAAY in advance...then months later got a PIN for free dining. Our travel agent rebooked it with no problem. The only concern...there have to be discounted slots open when you call to rebook...so, best to rebook as soon as that discount comes out. Also be on the lookout for other deals. Depending on the type of room you have booked- room discounts may wind up saving you more $ than free dining. i.e. a decent room discount for a deluxe is more of a savings usually than free dining.

We are planning a large group trip for about a year and a half from now--haven't actually booked yet, of course, but we will probably book pretty far in advance and I'm reaaallllllly hoping to get a free dining PIN we can use...but I will keep an eye on room discount offers too, that's definitely good advice! Thanks!!
