Free Dining Announcement by April 12

I can't beleive how many different things are being told by these CM's. I guess it's a wait & see. My husband & I decided that even if they don't have the free dining, we will still go by ourselves. I just don't know if we will buy the dining plan. We tend to over eat on it anyway. It just would have been nice to have if we were going to bring the rest of the family.

Kimberly I believe last year they extended the date that you could get the offer by because they did not get enough response. So I don't THINK you would need to call that day to book. Just my opinion.

good luck. I hope this news pans out because I'd really like to go again.

tricia.

Ok, wasn't sure about that. I'm getting anxious and want to be sure if it does come out that we get in on it.

Another thing was I thought you had to book your trip during the promotion? So for those with trips already booked are you just hoping that it's securing an empty room at that resort?

That's a good question. I'm curious as to how that works as well. I've heard lots of people say they're going to add on the dining plan or have their money credited back to them. How's that work?

Okay...I have a question that I'm hopeing someone here will be able to help with. We booked our trip through AAA a while back....if were lucky enough maybe our time at WDW will fall within the Free DDP period (if offered) ;) ...My fingers are crossed. BTW...we're going Sept 18-22 then back for one night on the 29th. Anyways my question.... since we booked through AAA we'll need to go through out TA to get the DDP added when/if they make the announcement. I'm sooooo worried that the TA will flake and not get right on making what ever changes we need. Does anyone know what steps she'd need to take or how early in the day she'd need to get working on it. Another thing that's stressing me is the fact that were on the West Coast and usually when things like this are announced it's at MN Eastern time (9pm PST)....but the TA won't get to work until 9am PST...which is NOON EST...making the announcement 12hrs old. Do you think this will be a problem? Or am I totally stressing over nothing. I know last year the offer was extended due to lack of takers....could this be the case this time around as well? ALSO....anyone know what sort of rooms they normally offer with this promotion (mainly intrested in the value resorts). ;)

You are stressing over nothing. Every resort is available with this promotion (or was in years past.) Last year this offer was out for 3 months and people had no problem booking resorts (can anyone think of a resort that was no longer booking free dining by 6/24/06? I can't!)

Call your TA ahead of time and have her re-book your trip using the free dining promotion code on the day it's announced, if your travel dates fall at the right time. In the 2 years past, you had to stay a minimum of 3 nights with at least 1 day passes.

Thanks :flower3: Silly as it may sound...that does make me feel better. I'm sure I'm stressing over nothing...and I'm sure my TA will handle everything. I've been in contact with her ...asking her if she's heard anything about the dinning plan and as of today she said she hasn't seen/heard a thing. Anyways I've contacted her to let her know they may be announcing soon and that our whole group would like the DDP (free) added to our reservation as soon as it's available. I guess I just need to let go and relax. :grouphug: Thanks.

I'm sure you aren't in the minority with stressing over it...lol I imagine there are TONS of us that are waiting on pins and needles for this promo and wondering if we'll get in on it...lol So join the crowd :grouphug: I don't think I'll have many nails left by April 12th.

We are Sept. 27 to Oct 4 so we missed it. I had planned on it being offered thru the end of Sept. like last year but we had the 40% off for the weekend at CBR and then at our DVC the rest of the time and that doesn't apply to FDP.

Oh well, I really want to be in Disney for my Birthday and MNSSHP on the 28th of Sept. Maybe in 08 they will extend it again.

Also, I heard from the budget board they are going to open it first to Disney Visa card holders this week but I have never gotten anything from them. I guess I will check there each day.

Good luck to everyone for the FDP.:cool1: :cool1: :cheer2: :cheer2:

OOOOHHH....that would be AWESOME!!! I have a card....let's cross our fingers for that to happen first :yay:

Someone posted on one thread that they read on the budget board(lol.. sounds really reliable doesn't it) that cardholders would be offered it first. If so that'd mean sometime this week I'd think. I am a cardholder and have received no news about it. Looks like we're just going to have to wait...phooey :sad1:

Generally when they make discount offers, they make them across the board for the entire property
I don't believe this is actually the case, at least not as a general rule. I'm pretty-sure I remember there having been promotions in the past that have been limited to specific resort classes.

I think this year's bookings may be different from the last two years. We have to remember that the UK and bounce back plan was in place for about two or three months. I think those two plans may reduce the number of rooms that will be offered to the general public free dining.

I remember that also. There have been times when AP rates or general public codes were not available at all resorts for all views and all dates when to discounts were first released.

Can someone tel me what ADR means? Since I am kinda new at the abrv. thing and if there are any other abrv. that you think I should know please fill me in. Sorry I know I am dumb.

Thanks.

No, you're not dumb. You just haven't learned the lingo yet. You'll catch on quick. Meanwhile, there is a place on the boards somewhere with a list of abbreviations. I don't know where it is right offhand. Maybe somebody else could fill us in??

Here is the link (thanks to minnieandme)

I hope so. Thats the whole reason I got the card in the first place.
