Free Dining 8/26-9/22-Anyone Else Hear This?

:headache: DOH!

If they just change the dates to accomodate me, things would be just sooo much easier! :rotfl:

I know, I feel like all of my August planning has just going down the toliet and now I have to start all over again. Ugh. :confused3

So do I now wait for AP rates to be released? Do I book at Universal? We were only staying 4 nights before moving to the BCV-2 bedroom for 5 nights. Guess I could always use my DVC points to book a couple of studios...what to do? Luckily for us, we are DDE cardholders, we just wanted to taste the free ddp promotion before moving to the BCV.

How does that work exactly? Can they apply a new promotion code to an existing package reservation? My apologies for this newbie question . . . I've never booked a package, just room-only.

Are there cancellation fees associated with packages, in case the current "free dining" info turns out to be incorrect?

My experience was we booked POFQ, I wanted the "smaller" resort and the beinets... then free Dining came along.. they refunded my credit card (but wait - I did NOT GET REFUNDED until 17 days later!!)

They then only had rooms available at POR - none at POFQ...

it all worked out... but no you cannot add it to an existing ressie... or you couldnt the last two years..

No cancellation fees...

but you do have to book a "package" which means at least a one day base MYW ticket for each person on the DDP...

 We're planning to go on Aug 5 to the 12. I guess our dates won't work for the free dining. Being a teacher sucks:sad2: I was kind of hoping for no free dining to cut down on the crowds. But it still would have been nice to save some extra $$$.... We still have to wait and see for the official announcement.:hippie:

I am happy if these indeed are the dates. I'll be there the beginning of August up to Aug 8 and was hoping there would be no free dining for my dates. Last August, free dining kicked in on Aug 13 and the crowds that came in that day were horrible. EMH's were bad.....almost worse than being in the park at peak times.
Now a friend of mine has free dining and she's there from approximately Aug 5-15 or thereabouts. But she booked in December during a stay at POP and she said it was a promotion ? So maybe only guests who pre-booked this package from an earlier onsite stay got the free dining for early August ?

This makes sense of why the later dates for Free Dining. Maybe those who booked with the Bounce Back Promotion picked early August for the most part.

Well, if those dates are correct I'm in a pickle.
Our dates are 8/21 - 8/30. I was thinking of changing our package thru AAA for 8/21 - 8/25 and then book thru Disney for free dining for 8/26 - 8/30. We've got the 3 day minimum covered. Anyone find something I may have missed? TIA!

Or you could just go 8/26-9/4.....not that I would purposely plan all my ADR's to match yours or anything stalkish like that.....

I was thinking of changing the dates to 8/25 - 9/4! You're ESPN is on super HIGH today. :thumbsup2: Only catch is flights are non-refundable and we'd have to pay $100 to change the flights. But collectively we'd spend $1000 to change the flights YET save $3400+ doing free dining. You gotta spend it to save it, baby! There goes that Fizzy Disney Math, again! :rotfl:

Oh this is exciting! :yay: Our dates are in the dates mentioned. YAY! hope it's officially announced soon! can't wait!:goodvibes

This really upsets me as we will be coming home on 8/26. I gotta say, if these dates are true, and they offered better dates to other target audiences, I am a tad frustrated. I wish they offered the same deal and dates to everyone.

As far as your friend with free dining, I have read about a promotion for people who were in Disney during a particular time being able to rebook with the free dining promo.
That must be it chefmb. She did book the "bounce back" package that MariaEller mentioned. I didn't realize you could pick any dates you wanted to for the free dining though.

I have a two part question please???:flower3:

A. Had you already booked and paid for the pkg with dining???
B. Are you saying you can't make a room only ressie into a pkg or a pkg with no dining into a dining pkg??? It has to be the same kind of ressie beforehand as the promotion requires it to be?

Sorry, indeed that was a three part question LOL!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, all that is very helpful!

I'm gonna wait until "free dining" packages are available for booking, rather than booking a package now and trying to convert it.

And yup, thanks also for the note about MYW base tickets. I did the math. . . factoring in the 2 one-day MYW tickets, plus paying rack rate for the room, we'd spend about $253 to get onto "free dining". Comparing that to what I believe the two of us would spend on meals, we'd save at least $70 by making the change.

So Fuzzy Disney Math is now Fizzy Disney Math? Or have you had too many fizzies? But seriously, you could buy me a lot of Lapu Lapu's with $2400! :teacher:

:lmao: Good catch, S'late! I'm really good at typos!
Fizzy Fuzzy. It's Friday afternoon Happy Hour! Too many fizzies! :rotfl:

We have to go the beginning of Aug. due to my SIL leave from the Army. Sure wish Free DDP would start earlier in Aug.

Me too (or 3, or 100, or however many of us are in the same boat!) :sad2:

:rotfl:

Hello, Disney? These are my travel dates, could you please offer free dining during that week, 40% off my room, and free hoppers/water parks and more options, and make sure none of the attractions will be closed for refurbishment, none of the restaurants either, and I'd like to attend the P&PP, MNSSHP and MVMCP, so could you also make sure all 3 of those are running, too? Thanks!

It really would make my life so much easier.

Sounds like a reasonable request to me!
