With Thanksgiving being late last year (and this year boo) There is less weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas...so there is no really 'good' week to go during that time.

So we will be going in October this year...I think it is like 3 or 4 years before the week after Thanksgiving becomes attractive (crowd wise) to us...

I have to agree with you! We love POR! Also you wouldn't have to Upgrade in order to do the Table service meals which you would have to do at a Value. The price would probably end up being close by the time you upgrade the dining plan.

I think when I looked into it last year the difference for one adult and one child with 1QS and 1 TS at a mod instead of a value (POP) was only $100 dollars. I know it wasn't much in the scheme of things.

We did FD in 2011. I don't recall getting the refillable mug with it. Does Disney usually take that out of the deal, or did we miss something back then? Living and learning :)

The regular DDP didn't used to get them. I think the free mug started in 2012.

We received free mugs with FD in 2007. Maybe it was a special promotion. It was our first trip and I know we didn't pay for them.

We've gone the last 5 years and always received free refillable mugs with both qsdp and ddp. Stays at pop, asmo and por.

Interesting! I've done free dining in 2009 and 2011, and paid for dining in 2007 and have never gotten the mugs free, I always bought one for morning coffee. :confused3

That's because they were not added to the regular DDP until 2012. ;) It is entirely possible that there were promotions that included them, but they were not included as a general rule, and it states that in the brochures. When they were added in 2012, it was a big deal.

That's what I thought, I was excited this year would be our first trip with the dining plan that includes mugs! I'm just curious how other people got them free, unless they were on a different plan, not the regular ddp.

I dunno, I just got there and they gave us mugs. LOL. It was Quick Service dining in 2005, and regular dining the other 2.

I know that family suites at AoA have not been included in free dining promotions.

What about the family suites in ASMu? Does anyone know if they are regularly excluded?

TIA

We did not get mugs in 2010 with our plan. We always purchased them before they were included, so I was VERY happy when they started to include them. Our next trip after 2010 was 2013, and we got them free that year with the dining plan. I think they may have always been included with quick service and deluxe, but not totally sure of that.

ETA: See smitch already said that. I need to read the whole thread before responding. LOL

i think some people are confused if they don't hand them to you at check in. They show up on the package itinerary but must be physically purchased at the resort.

In sept '12 we had to go to the resort food court and take the mugs to the register as if we were purchasing them. When the cashier swiped our KTW card, the "purchase" price was zero bc there was a credit for the mug loaded onto the ktw card. This was at POFQ
