Free Dining 2014 Discussion

I wish Disney would do a bunch of rooms that just have 3 queens or 3 doubles. No need for a suite. Suite=$$. 3beds= affordable.

Someone mentioned the possibility of Disney having blocked off rooms to have reserved for FD. I am hoping that is the case. Not sure how that would benefit Disney though?

Also worried about potential black out dates at the end of Sept. If the start of your vacation starts on a free dining date, can you still receive it for your whole trip if your end date is outside of FD?

yes as long as your check in date falls within when free dining is offered you get it for your entire stay up to 14 days

Of course, my last post is assuming FD next week.

Disney might just be screwing with our heads. I'd bet there's some psychology involved with this FD dance: keep us all engaged and focused on the big D and I don't mean Dallas, or some such...

Here is my latest bit of info:
I have a friend that I go to church with that is a Disney Travel Agent (I wanted to talk to her yesterday but she was out of town). I just sent her a FB message asking if she had any insight on free dining since we are hoping to book for September. I am quoting what she told me:

"We know that Free dining is coming for September and rumor has it that it will be available next Monday. I am sure that is why my schedule includes OT for next week :)"

I then ask her if she knows anything about whether Disney Visa holders will get advanced notice.

"We normally get that information the morning that they offer the advanced booking and sometime we hear it from our customers before we hear it from our department leads. LOL"

Not sure if this is anything more than what Black has shared but the overtime comment is another great sign that Black is spot on again!!! :thumbsup2

Is she a CM or travel agent? Travel agents do not get the info ahead of time either.

The $200 is the deposit on the room. You can put a deposit down or pay in full. If you want the Disney Visa perk, you will need to put $200 on your Disney card, even if that means you have already made a deposit with a different card.

Yes we've paid the deposit in both rooms. So if I pay the $200 again will one if the others be refunded? Sorry for the questions, but it's our first trip!! All new to me!

not unless your trip has been paid for in full.

We are booked for dec 2-11 CSR this year.. What do u think will be available? Room % off or free dining?? I am hoping free dining happens then I just have to pay for my plan upgrade?.

What is you have a Dessie and made a deposit with your Disney visa already. Will they require you to make another $200 deposit or will the original count since it was already made with that card?

Your original will count, they may ask you to confirm your card numbers.

I have also noticed that CSR is sold out for pretty much all of Sept. Disappointing since our first choice was POR and second choice was CSR. Not sure where to go for the third choice. I'm a little hesitant to book CSR - so now we're thinking we may just do POP and upgrade to the regular DP. :confused3

We're in the same boat. We may do Pop and upgrade, but probably POR, which would make the difference only $200 or so when you consider the upcharge for DDP at POP. Hope everyone gets what they want! :goodvibes

You just have to make another $200 pmt with your Visa card to take advantage of the early offer. You don't need to be refunded.

heck no! Just registered for my first 5kwalk. :rotfl2: I asked because it's a big event here.
Lol!! I don't run...it's over rated. But I'll walk anywhere. Lol Just doing a game and some touristy things than head home. I volunteered my brother to do Easter dinner this year so
I don't have to home and entertain.

I am loving following this thread! We are going December 2-December 9, 2014- does anyone have any thoughts as to our odds? We chose that week based on what websites said about free dining offered (sept 29-Dec15, 2013- or something like that) but didn't realize that there were exclusion dates. I will keep my eyes open and fingers crossed- but if one of you pros had an opinion- I would love to hear it! Thanks:):):) (one for each of us!)

I don't know how I missed CSR, you are soooo right! They are booked on all King rooms in all catagories and their casitas and suites! They do have standard rooms available on most dates in September. :thumbsup2 Maybe some of these resorts are going through refurbs since September is the slowest month of the year:confused3 I sure hope that is what is going on or a lot of people that have booked "hoping" for FD are going to be really disappointed when their resort of choice is excluded. :worried: Check out Carribean Beach, :thumbsup2we loved it there when we stayed several years ago. We are a value family now. We book 2 rooms at POP and upgrade to the DDP, it does it's job since we are only there to sleep and it saves us money at the same time:goodvibes and our grandkids really love the activities at the pool when we take time to hang out at the resort.

If my memory serves me correctly it seems like we saw a lot of odd things with availabilities of certain types of rooms last year right before free dining was offered. Seems like when they are getting offers ready availability is all over the board. Anyone else remember anything similar?

Just dropping in to let everyone know that we're getting multiple sources dropping the 21st date. At this point we have at least three independent sources dropping that date.

More to come...
