Free Dining 2014 Discussion ~ Part 2

DV didn't arrive in time so I'm at the mercy of the GP offer. TA is recommending Contemporary Garden as the least expensive option with monorail. Anyone have any experience? We love BLT but I'm struggling with the price this year. For non-monorail she recommended Beach Club. This resort has never been on my radar. Anyone have any experience to share. It is myself and my 8 yo DD. I don't want to walk a ton at the resorts bc we open and close the parks each day and that's enough walking for me. Thanks.

Never stayed contemporary. What about poly? Stayed there and loved it :) or other views at contemporary??

I am sure this has been asked and answered, but is there no way to book free dining online tomorrow?

Also, I am a Disney Visa cardholder so I prefer to call today so I don't get held up on hold tomorrow. However, I recently made a large purchase with the card and only have about $150 of available credit until the end of the week. I am assuming at least the full deposit on the Disney Visa card is required to book it? Is there a way they confirm you are in fact using the Disney Visa card if you are providing the booking code for cardholders?

Thanks!

You could consider calling CHASE and requesting a slight credit increase, explaining that you want to book the Visa Free Dining at Disney and need a bit more.

We've stayed at Contemporary twice... once a LONG time ago :-) and another time a few years back. The most recent we were in a ground floor room in what I think is now called the Garden area - not the classic part where the monorail goes through, but connected.

Very nice room and we enjoyed it. I like the location and want to stay there again sometime.

Good luck to everyone calling in tomorrow! I got the FD last week but will be thinking of you all! It was actually a rush to get on the phone, wait on hold and get it so I'll be following the thread to re-live the excitement! :surfweb: Hope everyone gets what they want!

I have also already booked with my dv but i will be watching and hoping to hear that they have opened up por for fd. :goodvibes

Just booked POP with my DV for 12/22-1/5 through AAA. Our previous trips were always post-Christmas check-ins, so we never qualified for any of the discounts, but this year, we might spend the holiday with Mickey.

I say 'might' because there's still a decent chance we'll cancel this fall (before the 45-day deadline) if we find it's financially out of reach, but I wanted to jump on the FD offer while it was available, just in case. Six months to save up, right? :thumbsup2

I must say - holy crap, the cost of WDW has skyrocketed since our last trip three years ago!

Me too! I kind of feel left out this time lol i def will be on this thread watching for updates and cheering everyone on!!! Good luck!!

To all "GP" awaiting 7AM Eastern to give Disney a ringie dingie ;) my advice is 1) be very, very patient, 2) be very, very kind, and 3) be very, very patient :thumbsup2 ... may the best of all pixie dust not allude you for too long tomorrow! pixiedust:

What, in your opinion, is the likelihood that all the resorts with FD will sell out tomorrow? Specifically the moderate.

I know it would be pure speculation, but I'm curious if my chances are really good for getting FD or not so good at all.

BTW, I'm looking at October 26th.

As of now, the only mod available for FD is CBR, unless you want a King room at CSR. POR is not going to be available and CBR is filling up fast.

Good luck! :thumbsup2

They know it is a Disney VISA by the first 8 numbers on your card.

I just changed my bounceback from POFQ to CSR business class with FD. I only had to wait for a few minutes to get an agent and it took forever for him to bring up the reservation. Then had to get transferred to the bounceback department, waited on hold for 45 minutes and gave up. Tried again, only a 30 minute wait.

Good luck to everyone tomorrow, be prepared to wait. I'll be on here reading along.

I got my FD with the DV offer.. But I had to slightly modify my dates to get the room I wanted at the poly.. So I will prob be checking online/ calling tomorrow for my original dates.. I'm prob crazy... But I want those last 2 days of the food and wine fest!! Lol I need a snack credit lobster roll!!!

Are you saying you got a room at POR with Free Dining for this December? I was told POR was not a part of the promotion this year both by AAA and by Disney.

Hi!
Are the dates for october set in stone? I'd really like to purchase the airline tickets! Does anyone know?!:confused3
Thanks!

My guess is the GP bookings will go a lot smoother than the Disney Visa bookings did. They have now had a few days to clear up the confusion of the RO and the FD promotions both being released on the same date. So I think there will be a lot less people being told the dates they want are not included in the FD and the agents should be familiar with which resorts are participating in which promotion.
