Free Dining 2013

I used Small World and my agent was on vacation in Hawaii when FD began for my December 2012 dates. She called on day #1 and got it for me despite being off! Hope you get it!!!

I agree. A good TA will be on the phones at 7am when they begin taking reservations, not waiting until their office opens at 9am.

Yes we are booked at the CR in August but when reading about FD we thought about rebooking in September for the savings if it was worth it. i think we saved around 800.00 with the 30% discount compared to the 1080.00 for the dinning. maybe a little more savings but not enough to to change our reservation.

Did you calculate your room discount with the dining plan added in (paid for of course)? If not, then you would need to figure your cost of food whether or not you buy the plan.

I don't know about anyone else, but personally I would not go with option 1 since it involves dishonesty.

A Disney Reservations manager gave me that exact type of information a few years ago when we were deciding to bring my MIL and I called to add her to the reservation. The CM manager TOLD me to list my 70 year old MIL as a 17 years old, so as not to cause us to have 2 reservations numbers and it would be easier to keep up with everyone's credits. You aren't cheating Disney out of anything, as there is only an up charge if there is 3 or more adults in a single room, so that's not even an issue when booking 2 rooms.

Can someone help me with a question about FD? We are booked for August but thought about booking in September when FD came out, my question is is FD that much of a savings over the 30% off? I think i did the math correctly and FD only saves me aroun $200.00, I this correct? Me, wife, 17 and 16 on the plan.

A free dining discount will save you about $220 per night, so on a 7 night stay that would save you about $1540 of full price rack rates.

Thanks for the info. So, even if I'm paying for everything, our dining plans would be separate (not pooled credits) if we have 2 separate/adjoining rooms? 2 kids are 18

How many nights? A FD discount on a 7 night stay would be about $1540 - that's a pretty good chunk of change.

OK...let me make sure I understand something. I booked FD for Sep 2-7, and have a RO for Sep 1. Tickets are with the package obviously and I have 6 day tickets booked. If I changed it to 7 day tickets, I could go pick them up on Sep 1 at DD or WDW guest services and start using my 7 day ticket on Sep 1?

That's the plan!!!

We are staying four nights, it is a nice savings but not wort taking the kidds out of school. I booked the trip without knowing about discounts or FD so any amount of money saved is a plus at this point. Thanks so much for all the helpfull information!!

Hmmmmmm, that's not what I was anticipating. It's going to be a long day of figuring everything out before I have to book tomorrow am. Sheesh. (And of course I still have to figure out which resort to choose)

Sorry, but if you are booking 2 rooms and there is more than one adult, 18 or over, it will cause you to have 2 resort reservation numbers.

Yes.

I would like to know one thing. How do you (Disney411 and Black) keep up? :crazy2: These threads have such continous posting, they make my head spin. Plus you post on a lot of other threads.

I get automatic alerts on my phone when my subscribed threads have a hit. I just keep it with me when I'm doing my work around the house or siting in between baseball games, volleyball games, soccer games and sitting on carpool lines :-)
