>> FREE DINING 2011 WATCH - Read Post # 1 BEFORE Posting

This may be a REALLY stupid question (if so, sorry!) but in what scenario would getting FD ever NOT save you a substantial amount of money?

We're doing a trip 10/9-10/14 no matter what happens... I'm just trying to set us up in a way that we can take full advantage of a discount that may come later. Even if it's just free QS & we paid OOP for a couple TS meals, it would still save us a boatload of money over paying for everything OOP.

If you plan to stay at a Deluxe resort and if you have a small number of people (like just a couple), then a room only code usually saves you more than free dining because you end up paying rack rate for the room.

Sorry, but that is incorrect. If free dining comes out, you can just call and have them add the code to your existing reservations. I've done that exact thing every year since 2006. You do not have to rebook.

This is not necessarily true. Just because you have a reservation already doesn't mean you will automatically get the new code applied to your reservation. For example, if you are booked at Port Orleans French Quarter, but no free dining is available for that resort, you may have to switch to POR or CBR or whatever. You can apply the code only if there is availability for your dates for that resort.

Just to expand on this.. depending on the cost of the accommodation and the size of the party ... sometimes the 30/35/40 % off "deluxe" rooms can really make it more cost effective to pay for dining and get the room discount.

Always pays to do the math. :teacher:

WOW.. it's started way early this year. :)

I posted a ridiculous number of times last year that having an existing reservation or room type guarantees you NOTHING when it comes to Free Dining and people did NOT want to hear that message.

The room inventories are completely separate AND .. it's totally worth noting that the Free Dining room inventory and resort availability is BASED off the existing bookings at resorts. Specifically, the more a resort is booked, the LESS availability will be for Free Dining.

Prebooking .. hurts everyone in the end. But nobody thinks their 'one booking' will make a difference.

But when push came to shove, that message was correct.

Some people can easily add the dining without cancelling and rebooking that's true.. But many others found they had to cancel and rebook - sometimes at a completely different resort.

Unfortunately.. we can repeat this til the cows come home.. People will do what people will do.

I have had to change resorts to get a free dining code applied. Twice, as a matter of fact, and we did not have to cancel our reservation and our reservation number didn't change either. Two times we have already been booked at All-Star Movies, because we go yearly, discount or not, and when the code has come out I called to apply it. ASMo were booked for FD and we had to change to POP Century. They switched our resort, applied the code and we did not have to cancel and rebook.

Well, I guess Disney Reservations are consistant, if they are anything! :lmao:

That was scarcastic in case anyone didn't catch it . . . ;)

Like where I work.. they are consistent.. "consistently surprising" :goodvibes

At the end of the day.. it's a vacation. If it starts stressing us out THAT much.. maybe we're doing it wrong. :)

does anyone have a good pin code story ?

i asked the lady at disney if we had any and i also said i was a leaf fan (nhl) and she said i diden't. then i said i was a hab fan and she said in your dreams. when i said i like tampa bay she found one. go figure.

I called once about a pin and they said YES. Then we get cut off. I called a minute later and the other CM said absolutely no pin. Then I told her what the other CM said........she said she had to search deep to find it. Hmm....the other CM told me in a matter of seconds. Unusual....sometimes I think they say what they want to.:confused3

:love1:.....very happy right now that you are hearing good things to come.

CanadianGuy you have made my day!!!!

I'm still kicking myself for not making a reservation in December.

I was going to use a room discount pin this week but now I will take your advice and wait....patiently.....:goodvibes

May all of our FD dreams come true! ;)

Myself and the others who were able to book with those supposed "non-public" codes last week have gotten a confirmation WITH the dining code applied - it is stated plainly on the WDW invoice. They simply can not remove that code upon check-in, after the package has been paid in full, and demand additional payment.
What's on the Disney invoice doesn't matter if you have a void contract based on a material misrepresentation.
And that depends on the "non-public" code's wording - I didn't read the deleted posts, so don't know the details, or the wording of the code at issue, hence am not commenting on that.
Generally speaking, my pin code from 4/10, for example, clearly said it was non transferable. If someone else had tried to use it, any contract Disney entered w/ them would be void due to their misrepresentation that they were authorized to use the code when they weren't.
If one party to a contract misrepresents a material fact, the contract is void. For example, if I used a stolen credit card number to book a Disney vacation the fact that I had a WDW invoice and confirmation wouldn't stop Disney from canceling any payments made with that credit card once they discovered that I wasn't authorized to use it - same legal principal.
Another example, if Disney sells you a child's entry ticket based on your representation that your child is 8 years old, but then you arrive with an 18 year old 'child' they can ask for verification that the child is 8 and thus eligible for discounted admission and if you can't prove that the child is 8 as you represented when you bought the ticket, Disney could cancel the ticket entirely, or they can ask you to pay the difference thereby mitigating their loss from your misrepresentation.

I just called WDW to ask if I had any pin codes attached my name. She said yes I have two. The first was 35-40% off rooms. The second was for free park hopper/water park stuff added to the tickets. I don't care for the second and when I asked about the first, I was told they don't have it available for Pop Century which is where I wanted to stay.
I never knew the customer service reps could be so pushy. From asking how much the price of Pop Century, she then gave me the price of Caribbean Beach, never saying I could get the discount at any other Value resorts(which originally she said the offer was 35 at val and mod, and 40 at the others). She asked me how many times I was planning on eating 4 times, I kept telling her I have no idea how many times I wanted to eat and that's something I'll add on. That's when she obviously realized I wasn't going to be an easy sell, so she started giving me attitude. No matter how many times I asked her how much for "just the room" she kept adding tickets, insurance, dining...whatever else she could. I couldn't wait to get off the phone. Are they all like this?
If so, I'll skip calling, and settle for whatever specials they offer online.

Hoping they offer free dining for everyone:goodvibes

Just wanted to add that we got the free dining pin for the July/august dates and we booked for the first 2 wks in july and they had nothing at any of the values resorts left with the pin code.

I'm hoping that they offer it to the public and open up more rooms to be used with free dining:surfweb:

american by the way. but i love canada. hockey nite in canada broadcast are the best. i miss not seeing the leafs in the playoffs. it won't be the same in the eastern conference with ottawa and toronto and buffalo staying home. buffalo has flopped toward the stretch and its now time for a coaching change. one of our spor
ting goods store here olympia sports in tonawanda ny (north of buffalo) has a great deal on hats. just bought 2 reebok sabres hats for $22 . now if they can only win i got a deal. i agree the outdoor game is the best. but listening to the vice presidentcambell...i got the impression he doesn't want to do more than one a year in canada and one in the states. i think he's missing the big picture. fans love it. and thats what its all about.

excuse the typing please. if you notice nothing in caps. i hope the world jrs come back to this area and buffalo plays a better host city. i heard horror stories abt the parking problems. love to see it come to toronto or better yet hamilton ontario. by the way atlanta to hamilton would be a great move for the nhl.

After reading thru this thread I decided it couldn't hurt to call and ask.

We've never been and are planning on going in Sept for 8 days. I got our DVD in last week.

I called and she said right now I had the 40% off for hotels but that I also had a second pin that wasn't available yet. It's for FREE DINING!!! Made my day :)

She said just keep checking back and it'll come available.

So here's my questions.....

1: when should I call? First thing in the AM every day till it comes available I assume? lol.

2: Typically with the free dining you get Counter Service with the Value resorts and Plus with the moderate resorts right? What if I wanted to stay value and upgrade? Can I do that and does anyone know what the price (ballpark) would be?

3: and should I truly get excited??? Is there any chance it'll disappear before it becomes available?

Thanks everyone :)
