I just called to add some info to our ressie and to ask about any pin codes and the CM said the system is down for them to add some enhancements....I wonder what that means, maybe more discounts?? Hopefully....

When switching resorts when already booked with a PIN or PROMO code:

a) the resort you wish to go to MUST not only have availability .. but .. availability on the same offer code that you are booked with currently.

b) Trying to switch resorts once the original 'book by' date for your offer has passed cannot be done by the folks on the front lines of the Reservation Center. They will show zero availability across all properties once the book by date has passed. Don't fret tho, you call and ask for Guest Services to change your reservation and if there's avail left on the closed promo they can usually do it.

Okay...so what I am hearing is that it is possible to switch resorts provided that the resort you want to switch to still had some availability remaining on the expired promotion. I have heard several conflicting opinions on my situation.....some say yes, some say no, and some say maybe. I guess I'll just have to call Disney and see what they say. Thanks all.:) Wish me luck and a little pixie dust!pixiedust:

Just curious.....would you all have been paying for the dining plan if a offer had not come out? I guess to me it is worth it only if you intended to buy the dining anyway.

They're probably adding a feature to track how many times people have called and been told, "No, you don't have a PIN!"

Yes, definitely. Free dining saves me about $1000 for my family of four for a 10 night stay....who wouldn't want to take advantage of this?

Yes! That's what I said in the last three posts and what the Moderator, Canandian Guy just said.

Ok...so I just called. Took the CM a few minutes, but she found the FD code under my email account. She said I should have already received the email with the code, but I have not.

Anyhow, the dates end for the code on August 13th. We are planning our trip for the first week of September. I believe that someone on here said recently that the CM they talked with was able to use the code for an arrival date after 8/13...sometime in September. When I asked her to at least try, she wouldn't. :(

Does anyone else remember someone saying this?

TIA,

Lissa

Oh I definitely agree!! We have tried the QSDP once and thought it was still too much food and I do not make anymore than 2 ADRs each trip. I was just wondering if the free dining is only worth it for those who pay for the dining anyway. Where I don't the 35% discount is better for us.

This is what I did. I called once and they said sorry can't change you. I called back and talked to a very nice CM who said I can't change it but I can check with Guest services. He then came back on the line and said yes Guest Services can change it. So I have Free Dining and went from Pop to POFQ and just paid the difference in the upgrade to a moderate resort.

You just have to be persistent and keep trying until you get the right CM.
And of course, there has to be availability where you want to go.

Good luck.

I give up! :headache: Tired of calling & getting less than magical CM's. :rolleyes1 Hopefully I'll get an email but I am not calling anymore. Some of the CM's make you feel like they are being bothered to look through a computer. Oh well. :sad2:

True enough. With us we find that the dining at the table service restaurants is all part of the special-ness of a Disney vacation. I can see, however, how the maximum flexibility offerred by having no ADRs would be an advantage as well.

My wife wants to pay for the dining plan!!!:scared1: That's $1000 for our family!:scared1: We have gotten used to FD,and really can't see the point of staying on property without it-we don't do EMH,and could use a couple of queen sized beds as opposed to the "little" beds at Pop;Also,we could stay very close and get a bigger room with free hot breakfast,a kitchen, double queens, full size pull-out sofa bed, room for 6 instead of 4 at $84/night.Wal Mart is right down the street, and I know I can feed 6 of us(3 adults,3 kids)waaay less than $1000!!! I could probably feed us well for about $300 or less for 10 days. So,NO,we are probably not going to pay for the DDP-would rather stay off-site!;) The only way we'll be a"captive audience"for Disney,is IF they'll feed us!! Don't tell my wife I said this!!!:scared1::scared1::rolleyes:

We stay on-site because of the Disney Dining Plan. We do now plan our vacations around free dining promos, but with or without free dining we are going to purchase the dining plan. With or without the DDP we are going to eat at least 1 TS/sit down/character meal per day, so even without free dining we are saving about $300.00 vs. out-of-pocket. Could we save money by running around off-site looking for cheap meal or packing PB&Js and sack lunches everyday? Of course, but that's just not going to happen. I am a stay-at-home mom who lives in the kitchen and laundry room on a regular basis, when we go on vacation I DO NOT cook. The dining experiences are part of the whole magical vacation experience. So it's DDP all the way for us - free dining is just the cherry on top :-)

We are the exact same way! If you look at my signature you will see that since 2005 all but one trip was taken in September so we could take advantage of FD. We also had a September trip planned (with FD) in 2009 but I was put on bed rest and had to cancel. I was so sad :( (at least my babies are healthy)! We paid for DDP in 2007 and I would do it again. It is all about convenience for me. (I'm a SAHM too!)

By the way, I was raised in Mt. Vernon, Indiana and I have a number of cousins, your age, that live in Evansville. It's a small world after all . . . . . . lol!

If I remember correctly, that person said that her particular PIN was good from Labor Day to November not the same dates as everyone else has been getting.

Yes we would pay for the dining anyway. It is helpful for us to know that the meals are taken care of.
