Free Dining 2008?

 Are they for sure dropping gratuity from the plan? Will the cost go down? Probably not!

Sorry, but Disney doesn't know down. Most likely the price will go up and the benefits will drop. I love the DDP, but will be crunching the numbers if the rumored changes occur.

As for free dining. I'm waiting to see if our UK friends get it offered to them this August for next summer. If the offer opens to them, that will be a good sign that it "might" happen. Lots of folks waiting to see if the bounce back promotion is offered again December for next summer too. Guess all we can do is wait.

WDW free or discount perks only offered during slow times.

Now - WDW does not have many slow times.

Free dining for late Auguts to mid September 2007 (about a 4 week period).
Southern kids are back in school. Northern kids only have 1 week left of summer vacation in late August. The hurricane season sometimes roars in August and September.
I guess the reasons for a limit time period of free dining.
How many people with kids can go during that time anyway :rotfl:

I have heard the same rumor and instead of dropping the gratuity out of the DDP to save, I would like to see them do a simple restructuring to the DDP and have an either/or offer:

keep the Meal, Drink, Tax & Tip but instead of each person getting an appetizer and an desert, they get to choose 1 or the other.

I LOVE THE DDP, but it is SOOOOOOOOO much food. If they up the price or change it to where the tip isn't included, I would have to reconsider doing the DDP. I hate to take cash to the parks and I don't want to charge my tip.

I agree. This would be fine with me. We've often said that if this were the case, we'd get two appetizers and share them and two desserts and share them (it's always a group of four adults on the DDP with us). They could even take the dessert off the CS meal if they wanted to keep costs down.

This was the topic of a thread a month ago, which was eventually locked by the moderator. It is against DISboards policy to reopen a discussion of a previously-locked subject.

Regarding Free Dining in 2008, that question was answered earlier in the thread: Disney themselves doesn't even know. We should get some indications in November, with regard to the offers made to UK residents at that time.
