Free Dining '10 Update: Disney Visa FD Released (See pages 1 & 57+ for details)

"I think it'll be Free Dining" group. As a PP pointed out, the UK has had a free dining deal out for the Fall for some time now. I've had my Bounceback offer booked since last Sept. I believe all of this points toward a general public Free DDP promotion for approximately the same dates as in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009....

I am here to show my support!!! (and glad I'm already booked, ADR's in place, now if the airline fares would just come down!!)

Hopefully something shows up soon. Right now I have ADRs for all 7 days for anywhere from 7 to 9 people. If there won't be free dining, it may end up only being my immediate family of 4 going, since we booked a bounceback last August. I really hate to make up another set of ADRs and be double-booked, just because I don't know for certain at this point, if everyone else will be going.

Okay are you a TA and you know the promotion? If so please share! I have no problem with it not being free dining, but I don't feel like waiting to hear any more.

I was told by my TA that even IF they knew what the promotion is, they are NOT at liberty to say. It would be breaking a confidence.

I've been waiting to book until a good offer comes along.... like free dining! By the sounds of your posts.... did you book your vacation now, and you can add free dining if that promotion comes up between now and your vacation? I wouldn't think so, so I would be surprised. We are looking to go in December, but I'd like to make my reservation 6 months (and 10 days out) so I can make advanced dining reservations. Am I missing something?

My sis and I are making a trip this fall regardless of the promo, so yes, we are booked including hotel and dining. It is value season and I have the AAA discount but any savings we get with a better promo - like free dining! - will go towards spa treatments and other splurge items. (Sorry if I wasn't clear, yes, you can apply free dining or other promos to your existing reservation. )

You can still make dining reservations at 180 days out without having to have booked a hotel reservation, but my understanding is that you'd have to book each ADR for the day it was eligible at the 180th day, instead of making up to 10 days of ADR's at the first day of 180th eligibility on your trip like you can if you have a hotel ressie. The 180 + 10 is for hotel guests only...I think.

Wow....you are quite the pessimist. Though many of us appreciate your candidness....many of us appreciate positiveness until it comes out. Isn't that what Disney is about? Positiveness and imagination.

Even if it doesn't come out. Many are going to benefit from what will be in store. So, there will not be many disappointments from the DIS.

I can appreciate the idea of positive thinking, I really can, hope and faith is key however, you want to dedicate that kind of brain space and mental power to an issue, go over to the 'wish kid' board and think positively for good health or perhaps think really hard about the families in Haiti still suffering and what we can do for them.

I love Disney, I use these boards for a lot of things, but there's so many more serious issues out there and people seem to get so obsessed and often irate over a promotion. If it happens, great for everyone planning a trip, if not maybe next year

Yes, too true! Mine said their company usually know 2-3 days before the offer is released, but are not allowed to tell.

I figure WDW is still concentrating on their 2nd quarter and summer months before releasing anything for fall. It's possible WDW is still considering what their fall promotion will be and have not made up their minds yet.

Maybe a tad dramatic but not offending. I am sure we all realize there are more serious issues in the world than a discount at WDW.

That does not mean we shouldn't hope for a discount though, imo.

so from what I see there is a new special out about saving on hotels. That promotion runs through August. Does that mean that is the promotion from now until then? I was hoping for free dining also!!

We all want peace....but, sometimes we need to seperate are hectic, political, religious lives from planning family vacations. We have all our lives to worry about the happenings of the world. I want a place to get away from that. If I want to know about everything else...I turn on NPR, CNN, MSNBC, FOXNEWS, etc.etc.

That's correct. Only WDW resort guests can do the 180+10. If you attempt to do it online, the only way to get the +10 is to pull up your ressie, otherwise you could only do it for the one day that was eligible for the 180th day. On the phone, the CMs don't always ask for theconfirmation number, but they can still easily pull up your ressie just with you providing things like your name and number to see if you qualify for the 180+10.

I also need to make my adr's. Do you need to have a hotel booked to make the adr's.

Anybody find it odd that Disney released yet another summer discount...but this time for cruises. I know its not a FD or WDW but are they that in trouble that they need more people? This is a kids sail free on some of the cruises. I noticed on my facebook page.

I also noticed that the current DV kids stay/play/eat free promo expires April 24. Has anybody thought that maybe that one has to expire before they offer FD? And if thats the case does that mean I may have to wait another month before I can possible get FD? I am not getting enough sleep as it is....and talk about dreams.....mine usually involve something random like somebody figured out how to go into my brain and switched what I see. I think its Disney....they are trying to brainwash me!!!

Yep, exactly.. What am I suppose to do? Wring my hands and worry about all of these things? I say my prayers & I move on. What can I do? Nothing wrong with planning a trip to Disney World even though there are horrible things going on in the world.

There has YET to be any information 'leaked' for free dining. Maybe this is because there isn't any free dining TO leak?!?

Disney has said (on more than one occasion) the they want to go back to rack. The Gift Card promo was a pretty decent step in that direction.

CM's have told posters that it's not free dining, people on this thread have had their TA's tell them it's not free dining, yet only because everyone here simply wants it, everyone thinks it's still coming.

Am I the only one who thinks the reason that there hasn't been any leaks is because it's not a very favourable deal and no one wants to be the 'bearer of bad news'?

I guess you can build a case in either direction. The only thing about your theory that doesn't hold water for me is that it's based on info that people either have gotten or typically get through back door channels. We all know that CM's know next to nothing about upcoming promos, and that the "advance info" that we get from them is typically incorrect. And most TA's are usually even further out of the loop. My TA didn't even know what a PIN code was when I stopped in about a month ago to see if he had "heard anything!"

When I called about ten days ago, I had a very pleasant CM who I started chatting with. So I decided to go ahead and ask him about FD. He said, and this is a direct quote:

"No sir, I haven't heard a thing about it. They're gonna do it. And even if I had heard, I wouldn't be at liberty to talk about future promotions. Value Season. We really don't get any information before the general public, and if we do, it's usually only a day or so in advance for training purposes. You can book now, and add it later."

The guy cracked me up. I still haven't booked, because I'm starting to buy into the theory that advance booking decreases the inventory available for the promo, but if I went solely by what CM's say, then I'd already have made the ressi!

But again, even if you take Disney's "stated" desire to go back to rack rate (who said that, btw?), I think that value season would be literally the last time of year that they'd make the move. Why in the world would they extend the current promotions through the busiest season and then not have anything equally or more significant through the slowest periods. I just think they're a lot smarter than that.
