Free Dining/1 Day Ticket question

I called this morning and was able to get Free Dining for our trip.

We have annual passes. I think I've read somewhere on here that the 1-day ticket can be saved and used later towards the price of an annual pass once ours expires if we do it at the parks.

Am I totally crazy?

So this was my question too, was going to post here today as well, thanks OP!! That is great -- so those one day MYW passes do not expire? Then we will just use it next September when we upgrade our AP's. (Good to know, as we are upgrading our September tickets to AP's and may try to go again before they expire next Sept, so will probably accumulate another MYW pass since you have to purchase those to get packages/dining).

I just used my one day base ticket from last August 2008 free dining to apply against the purchase of a new Annual Pass. I also used the 10% friends and family promotion so my out of pocket cost was $369 for my annual pass. I know the pass was activated on 6/27/09 the day I purchased it at DTD... not bad...

That is correct. We did this several years ago.

Trip 1- Free dining w/ required tickets. While there upgraded to APs... to use on our trip 11 1/2 months later.

Trip 2- We used our APs for that trip. Problem was FREE DINING AGAIN... the one day required ticket from that trip is on our room card in a safe spot. As long as you don't use it, it is good forever. It's like a down payment on your next trip or AP. EXECPT the problem is they keep offering free dining and we haven't done the AP thing in a few years now so each trip we are just getting the free dining and buying 8 day tickets.

Those 1 day tickets just keep collecting dust.

Yup.

Sorry I rambled a bit there I think... ROUGH weekend, EARLY Monday! But yes if on that next trip (September) they offer free dining and you take it you may end up with a collection of MYW trading cards! You'll have to crunch the numbers. Lately our trips have been 52 to 53 weeks apart so I haven't had to think too hard on the Disney math! Thank goodness!

And, just to be clear...

You cannot "combine" tickets, even for the purpose of an upgrade.

So, only one ticket (at a time) can be used to upgrade to one AP.

If you need, say, 3 AP's, you can use 3 separate MYW tickets to help pay for the 3 AP's,
one per AP.

You can continue to "hold" additional older, unused MYW tickets and use them in the future.
