Here are the figures for 2 adults - arriving 9/22/07 departing 9/28/07:

6 nights free dining - Poly - 1 park ticket per adult = $2,365.74 total

6 nights AAA rate no DDP - Poly - no park tickets = $1,887.66 total

Difference is $478.08 more for the free DDP which includes 1 non hopping park ticket per adult.

Okay... If I opted for the AAA rate and purchased the DDP at $38.99 per adult it would cost $467.88.

Does that mean that for the 2 non hopping adult park tickets, I am only paying $9.20 more?

$478.08
-$467.88
$9.20

Am I looking at this correctly? I am so very confused

I am actually holding both of these reservations and I am try to figure out which one to let go of.

If I am truly only paying $9.20 (or $4.10 each) for the 1 day park ticket I feel the free DDP would be more worth it.

You said the AAA option was with no tickets. Were you going to buy tickets at the gate? If so, how much will that be? I'd check the ticket prices first.

And how much would you spend on food without the DDP? In our experience, it's a lot of food for the money and we weren't there when it was free. We paid for it and will again in December.

A MYW 6 day base ticket is $416.00 per adult. That's $932.00 for both of you. And you still haven't eaten yet. Looks like the free DDP package is a great deal.

I have two 10 day park hopper w/ no expiration dates. One for each of us, haven't used any days yet.

I figure with what ever we have left on the tickets after this trip we will use when we take the grandkids in 2008 or 2009. They are still a little young for Disney (5 and 3) for us to take now. We don't want to deal with tired cranky kids who still need naps :rolleyes1 . We did that with our oun kids! Ha-ha

A MYW BASE ticket is deffinatly NOT $416 for one person. I am paying about $530 for my DH and I COMBINED for 9 day Park hoppers.

When you calculate your TRUE discount you have to do AAA room only discount which is $1,887.66 total minus Disney room only with no discount $2223.00 total givning you a room only saving of 335.34. THe tickets dont count becouse they can always be used either this trip of towards another. If the dining plan will cost you more than 335.34 then you come out ahead in my book!

What you're finding is, for some deluxe hotels, the AAA discount you forfeit by booking free dining is almost the same as the value of "free" dining for two adults.

Your AAA is just accomodations at the Poly for $1900 +465 DDP = $2365

You have go back and requote the Disney Free dining package as this:
6 nights at the Poly (make sure you match room type to AAA reservation)
2 adult 1 day MYW base tickets (must buy tickets to qualify for free dining)
you already have the actual tickets you'll use so you just have to buy the minimum required for the promotion. Your total of $2366 will go down once you down grade your ticket and you'll see that the Free Dining is a great deal for your trip.

You can save those 1 day MYW tickets as they don't expire until use.

Bon Appetit and have a magical time.

You can also use those one day tickets to upgrade to tickets with more days next time you need to buy tickets so that is about $142 for the two tickets. Each ticket can only be used to upgrade to one ticket but that would be two tickets in the future. That is what I am doing this year. We have the 1 day base tickets for the reservation but since I have an AP I don't need tickets for this trip. My DH's AP expired in Oct. so he needs either a new one or an 8 day MYW ticket this trip. Am still trying to figure out which it will be.

AAA -- 1888. resort + 142. one day base tickets (2) + 468. DDP = 2498.

You'll save approximately 132.00 by going with free DDP. As far as I know you will still need to purchase a ticket to get DDP through AAA. That makes it a package which requires a ticket purchase, I think.

Did you book the Poly for your dates already? I hope you did, because I checked this afternoon, the Poly was all booked from 9/22 - 9/28.

I have 2 reservations - both for the Poly - both for the same dates but:

1 ressie is AAA room only

1 ressie is free dining

I am still toying with which one to keep. I just wish we were bigger eaters, liked fine dining, seafood and expensive or exotic appetizers, etc, but we are not that type at all. We like TGI Fridays, etc, type of food. I know, we are sick!

But on the same token, the free DDP may still be worth for convenience and overall cost for 6 nights.

I guess I am still pondering

Okay, you may not be adventurous eaters, but the DDP is the perfect opportunity to try foods you otherwise wouldn't! Last year I had the buffalo sirloin at Artist Point; this year, I'm planning on the lobster at Narcoosee's...

Back to the "MATH" Disney package tickets are costing you $443 for the pair of 6 day base tickets (prices from this site). So w/o tickets Disney is $1923
Add in 1 day base tickets@$142, Disney package costs $2065 w/Free DDP, difference of about $180.

If you kept the AAA plan, you'd have to spend $30/day for the two plans to be equal. Thats meals, snacks, tax and tip for two. Guess you'll talk and decide. Hope this isn't too much "MATH".
