I was wondering how the free b-day admission works if you purchase a vacaton package. Our next trip may be on my sons birthday. Do they credit you that when you book or do they wait till you come and credit you then. I would like to know how others have used this bonus from Disney. Thanks in advance!

They don't credit your account or anything like that. You will need to bring a certified birth certificate for your son and present it at the window of a park on his birthday. You will need to show your son has a valid multi day ticket and then he can choose a gift card or a fast pass.

As PP stated, if you don't need the free admission, your only other choices are gift card or fast pass. The value of the gift card is based on a one day Magic Your Way ticket (not sure that I have that name right). I think it is around $70 for an adult, less for a younger child since their admission is less. Other option is a colletion of fast passes for several (not all) of the major attractions. I think you can find the exact details when you register.

We also purchased the vacation package (so don't need free entry) and are planning to get the birthday giftcard on our trip.

DS will celebrate his 15th Birthday on our trip starting 22 July and my Niece will also be celebrating her 15th with us too! Not sure what they will pick - probably the gift card. Such a nice treat. I booked the Wishes dessert party for DS as he is such a dessert lover For my Niece we have ADR's and I want to order a cake. Any recomendations as far as the cake?

Thanks everyone for the info. I love the dessert cruise idea. Not sure what we are going to do on his birthday yet or where to eat. So many ideas will be helpful.
