Just back and wanted to let you know about mini tours you can do in the parks.

Immigration tour at Men in Black - we asked about this as we went into the pre show area of the ride. They directed us through a door and we were shown the backlot and the area you look down on with the computers and the two big aliens - we were allowed to look at the papers etc next to the computers and had a photo taken with the aliens whilst people lining up for the ride were looking down on us thinking what are they doing there?

Twister - we asked at the ride entrance and they told us to go back 20 mins later - we were shown the area behind the set at the end of the ride and watched the twister scene with the guy who monitors the controls and also saw how they put everything back together again.

Hard Rock Café - we were shown the John Lennon room - various 'Beatles' artefacts that public doesn't normally get to see - also saw the areas used for entertaining 'top brass' from Hard Rock which is also the area the celebs hang out in when playing there - we went out onto the balcony overlooking City Walk - the best view on City Walk. Also went inside the Hard Rock concert hall (when it was empty) - reminded me of the Dolby Theater tour we went on in LA last year.

All these are free and great to do something different when you have visited a few times.

FWIW, I believe the Immigration Tour is supposed to be a "magical moment" kind of thing. If you are given a backstage tour of any kind I'd definitely recommend going to guest services and giving those employees a kudos- it's an "above and beyond" thing they do for their guests :)

what brink of sunshine said above.....::yes::

at the HRC, they only show that room if they have an employee that is available then.
if the restaurant is jammed full, they would tell you to return a later time.

personal experience with that.

Yep, these tours are given only if they have time. These are also not advertised tours and can be stopped at anytime.

Absolutely!

We did the MIB one a few years ago.........We were chatting to a TM when he asked if we had done it......we said no, he asked if we had time now......well, of course we did!

It was cute, and we made sure he got the recognition for doing it for us.

my group on the private RIP tour was allowed in the control room at the Mummy.
very kewl....

Now......THAT would be fun!!! Won't be too many people that have done that one I imagine.........::yes::

that was the RIP private $2000 tour..........lol

public ones probably wouldn't be able to do it.

on the private tours, the person that books is allowed to create the agenda for that night of the tour.

public tours are great but the tour guide is the one that makes the decision of which house to do and when, which bill and teds show to see, and what ride they might take the group to.

i started doing public tours in 2003 and loved them.
when i wanted to have the tour done in a different style, i started booking private tours and inviting people to join in with me.

moneywise, it was best for me to go private for 7.5 hours than the
public for 4 hours.

Actually, it was the non-private tour. I'm traveling solo from PA, so I'm not shelling out for a private tour. I enjoyed the group I ended up with last year.

We love your style of touring too. No messing around and let's get some house's done.

Looking forward again to the whole time with you and the homies. I need to work on the wifey for the unmasking tours this year but that should be nonissue.
