Free Beer!

Well it's a good marketing idea. But I don't think it's going to stick. It's kind of sad to see so many american brands lose out to over seas. I'm also not happy about the InBev purchase of it.

I think they'd have to *pay* me to drink it... free isn't good enough! :lmao:

Yeah, that is just what we need to do. Encourage younger and younger people to drink!! Not enough drinking problems out there now, glad to see Bud is doing it's part to kill a few more livers.

Ehhh not to excited....scratch that , not at all. I am in the group that one would need to pay me to drink that. I will stick with my PA made Yuengling.

The under 30 crowd have grown up in the heyday of good American made craft brews. Once you discover what good beer is like, you'll never drink another Bud. Marketing is the only thing they have ever had going for them, and the consumers have become educated.

Ditto! I love Yuengling! It's my favorite.

:thumbsup2

I started thinking more about this, as I have a friend that owns a struggling bar. I am not sure this would be great for him, unless they compensated the bar owner in someway.

Wait a minute. You have pgh in your name and you drink yuengling over Iron City?

I vote for bringing back the free beer tasting at SeaWorld. That's where I fell in love with my favorite brand, so it worked on me :)

A few free Buds isn't going to kill a liver. And I'm sure the under 30 crowd is already aware that there's a product out there called beer. Budweiser is just trying to sway which brand they pick. I didn't see this as targeting high school kids, just those of drinking age, who already partake. I don't have a problem with that.

Holy overreaction Batman!
They are serving it to bar patrons.

Budweiser would put their funds to better use by making a better beer rather than marketing the swill they have now.

Give me a good Warsteiner or St. Pauli Girl. Much better than any American brew.

I buy local beer 95% of the time. Those local beers are American too even if they are only regional.

AMEN!!!!! I remember a guy (rather pretentious though) about 25 years ago describing someone as the kind of person who had Bud in their refrigerator. When you discover what good beer is like drinking real beer vs bud or coors is like a fine wine next to strawberry ripple.

Swill is probably better than Bud.

Um, yeah. That was said in jest. I live and work in a college town. I know all about the drinking habits of college students. ;) I also realize that this event would be taking place in a bar and that they wouldn't exactly be going out and handing it out to all the kids walking be. :rotfl:

Seriously.

What if they are losing out to much much much better craft beers made in America? They mentioned that in the article, and I absolutely buy GOOD beers, and most are made here. Sure, I adore Newcastle (which is dealing with its own problems, closing down their oldest brewery recently), but right now I have beer from a San Jose, CA brewery in the fridge, and went to a San Diego beer festival where I tried several US craft beers (mmmmm, Cismontane coffee stout). So does that make it better that Budweiser might be losing market share?

I agree with the PP - once you start drinking craft/micro brews you can't go back. Give me a good Dofish Head brew (from Delaware) anytime

Agree!!!

Bud tastes bad, I haven't had one in years and the last one I had was tasteless!
